Posting information about all TPS-funded courses and events delivered by Consortium members in
Network’s homepage, offers teachers a quick way to review TPS events taking place across the
country. In addition, the calendar offers easy access to registrations links.
Application Period for Library of Congress Teachers Institutes Begins
The Learning and Literacy Office is accepting applications for our 2020 summer teacher institutes.
These include two general sessions in June, and two institutes focused on STEM and Civics,
respectively, taking place in July.
Professional Development Providers Institute
PDPI supports TPS regional project leaders and other educational professionals who conduct teacher professional development. Learn to plan, customize, and deliver high–quality professional development that prepares teachers to effectively use the Library of Congress digital archives. 25 CEU hours with an option to earn 10 more. Course participants meet online each Thursday from 5:30 – 6:30 PM ET, January 30 through March 5. Independent learning activities between sessions include readings, videos, online text discussions, reflections, and peer feedback. The final project is a TPS PD Activity Plan.
Impact Investigation Mini-Grants
Eastern Region Grantees are eligible for mini-grants to investigate the impact of their TPS-related work. The Library of Congress has authorized up to $2,500 to measure the impact of teaching and learning with primary sources.

The Long Road from Brown: School Desegregation in Virginia
The 2020 NEH Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshops for School Teachers invites school teachers (Grade 6-12) to participate in one-week workshops on school desegregation in Virginia, following the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision. Teachers will interact with leading scholars in the field, visit historic sites and archives, and will discuss curricular and instructional approaches related to this topic. All participants will receive a $1,200 stipend. The workshop will be held July 12-17 or July 26-31, 2020, in Richmond, VA. Apply by March 1st.
