Holly 1 From Your Mayor

City Hall Front Door
Hello Spring Park! I think it is safe to say that none of us expected to start Spring 2020 in the middle of a "Stay at Home" order due to the coronavirus. Hopefully, the steps that have been taken will help flatten the curve and get us back to a somewhat normal existence in the near future. I am happy to see that the weather has been cooperating lately by providing sunshine and beautiful days for walking to help us get through the many hours spent indoors.

On April 6 the City Council held its first ever virtual City Council meeting. Because of the current health pandemic, it has been determined that in-person meetings are not practical. At this meeting, the City Council officially declared a local emergency in Resolution 20-11 due to COVID-19 and the serious public health concerns and uncertainty that accompany this virus. The current local declaration will continue until at least Monday, May 4, 2020.

Furthermore, at the same April 6 meeting the City Council approved Resolution 20-12 which implemented certain measures to aid and assist Spring Park residents and businesses. The City of Spring Park recognizes that residents and business owners may be experiencing some financial difficulties during this uncertain time. The Spring Park City Council voted to extend the due date for utility payments until July 17. Also, the City will not shut off water services for failure to pay utility fees during April, May, or June of 2020.

I'm sure all of you understand that things are changing daily in regards to COVID-19. Please know that the most up-to-date information regarding Spring Park's response to COVID-19 will be posted in the "News" section of the City website at www.ci.spring-park.mn.us. Please check the website for updates or call City Hall at 952-471-9051 with any questions.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Mayor. I hope everybody is able to stay in good health and practice patience during this difficult time. I have faith that we will all be together again soon!

Yours truly,

Jerome P. "Jerry" Rockvam
Your Mayor

Summer Hours Reminder
City Hall summer office hours are effective Monday, May 18 and run through Friday, September 4.

Hydrant Flushing
To ensure that no unnecessary issues occur during the "Stay at Home" order, hydrant flushing will be delayed until the end of May or early June.

Talkin' Toilets
Message from the MPCA - Due to coronavirus concerns, there has been a run on toilet paper in our stores. This may cause you to look for alternative products such as paper towels, facial tissues, baby wipes, flushable wipes and other similar items. These products - including so-called 'flushable' wipes - do not break down like toilet paper and can cause sanitary sewer backups, which in turn can cause additional public health concerns. Please DO NOT flush items other than toilet paper down your toilet.
