Dear ESF Students, Faculty, and Staff,
We are looking forward to welcoming you back for the Spring 2021 semester and continue to be in full planning mode. Today, Syracuse University announced a new start date for the Spring 2021 academic calendar in response to projected public health conditions in Central New York and to provide some distance from the expected post-holiday surge of cases before returning to the campus community. The Spring 2021 semester at Syracuse University will begin on February 8, 2021. More information can be found here.
Our relationship with Syracuse University is central to our operations and the services that ESF students enjoy. As such, ESF is working with SUNY in an effort to adjust our own Spring 2021 academic calendar to coincide with Syracuse University’s. Our expectation is that ESF classes will also begin on February 8, 2021.
We understand this decision requires changes and/or clarifications to a host of other requirements and expectations. We are currently revising the “Academic Continuity and the Health and Safety of Students, Faculty, and Staff Policy for Winter and Spring Terms 2021,” which is posted online and expect to announce further clarifications later this week.
Thank you for your patience and your willingness to adapt to the highly dynamic situation in which we find ourselves. Our top priorities – providing a quality education and keeping our students, faculty, and staff safe – drive every decision we make.
Sincerely,
Joanie Mahoney
President
