Why should we reimagine teaching and classrooms for post-pandemic education?
UCI CalTeach Director Doron Zinger shares what we have learned from the pandemic and details an ongoing workshop series he's hosting: "Transforming Science Teaching: Planning for the Post-COVID "New Normal." The workshop series is creating communities where teachers can share their visions of what schools should be, as well as tools and skills to successfully transform teaching in the new normal.
Centering Students’ Voices: Jeff Duncan-Andrade and Critical Pedagogy
In November, Jeff Duncan-Andrade virtually visited the UCI Teacher Academy for the inspirational event:
A Talk with Teachers. This presentation, along with his co-authored book, The Art of Critical Pedagogy, inspired a group of educators to rethink about learning that humanizes the curriculum that centers students voices. Learn more about the event and how the discussions will inform teachers' classrooms.
Joseph Aubele, a School of Education doctoral student, is working with educators to identify the key processes and skills to help students and educators become more informed digital consumers and help slow the spread of misinformation.

UCI Celebration of Teaching
You are invited to join us on May 6 for the UCI Celebration of Teaching. The event honors teachers and educators for their commitment educating, mentoring, and inspiring future generations of students, and provides an opportunity for attendees to develop practical skills from a leading expert.

This year's featured speaker is 
H. Richard Milner IV (pictured), Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair of Education and Professor of Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Dr. Milner will present "Opportunity Centered Teaching," which focuses on the imperatives necessary to build and cultivate justice and equity through Opportunity Centered Practices in classrooms, schools, and districts.

On the heels of an incredibly difficult year, the Celebration of Teaching will provide a special venue to recognize the incredible efforts of our teachers, administrators, school staff and more. Register today and come celebrate with your fellow teachers!
