SCHOLARS BLOSSOM

This spring we celebrate scholars' achievements, super school fundraising, and an upcoming trip to Uganda.

Lydia is excited to begin practicing general services and nursing care in her second year of medical studies. "It used to hurt me to look at a person suffering in pain with no solution. Now I'm working toward becoming a doctor who can provide answers and save lives."

We're thrilled for Jovan who has received a full government scholarship to study medicine at the University of Constantine III in Algeria. "This incredible opportunity will allow me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor and practicing medicine."

Uganda needs midwives to support new mothers and safely deliver the next generation of babies. Vesta is meeting the need as she starts her first year at the Mityana Institute of Nursing and Midwifery.

Josephine has been teaching and inspiring students at her alma mater, Mumsa High School. This spring she's upgrading to a bachelor's degree at Kampala University. She'll attend 10 sessions over three years that are scheduled during her school breaks.

At the end of this year, Jovan will graduate with a computer science degree. He shared his thoughts on giving back.

"OHU has instilled in me its values and goals. I only aspire to continue carrying on these values, dedicating my future efforts to nurturing this spirit in ways that empower, uplift, mentor, and create a space where children feel safe, valued, and free to express themselves."

St. Anne School in Barrington held their first Penny Challenge and their middle school competition raised $1200 to ensure Jessica has the tuition funds to finish her secondary school education and continue her dream to become a nurse.

Next generation! Congratulations to Peter, an OHU graduate, who has welcomed a new son, Francis Xavier. He's grateful for the construction engineering skills he acquired in vocational school that allows him to provide for his young family.
