H&A Wins AHPA Environmental Impact Award

Expo West was extra special this year. Herbalist & Alchemist was honored for our significant sustainability programs with the AHPA Environmental Impact Award at the annual AHPA member meeting in Anaheim, California on March 3. This award “recognizes an individual, organization, or company that has implemented innovative sustainable or regenerative business practices that will continue to have a meaningful positive impact on the environment.”

If you have followed our progress over the years or read our annual sustainability report, you know what a priority this is for us. The entire staff contributes, and each one celebrated this recognition of their hard work.

When accepting the award with co-owner David Winston, H&A CEO Beth Lambert said "We are deeply honored by this recognition. David and I came together as business partners because we have a commitment to business that is good for people and good for the earth, rooted in the principals of permaculture and herbal medicine. The people that work with us have this same philosophy. This award belongs to our entire staff especially our Green Team. Their enthusiasm and ideas with measurable impact led us to incorporate new practices, re-examine how we work, and meet Zero Waste standards all within the framework of maintaining our profitability."

David was also one of the faculty at the AHPA Herb Walk, which is always a highlight of the show. David and other distinguished herbalists led small groups through the Fullerton Arboretum's 26-acre botanical garden, describing the culinary, medicinal and traditional uses of the collection of plant species from around the globe.

New Product Introduction:

What makes H&A's Lion's Mane Different?

Research on Lions Mane has shown that there are two groups of active constituents that give the mushroom its nootropic function. The erinacines are found in the mycelia and the hericenones are found in the fruiting body of the fungi. These components require two different types of extraction methods.

Our unique blended Lion’s Mane extract is made by combining 2 very different extracts, each made with their own specific concentration and menstruum. One is made from the fruiting body of the organically grown mushroom and a second from the mycelium. Our blended extract formula presents a full spectrum of activity from this well studied mushroom that helps support memory and focus*.

David Discusses Botanical Support for Mental and Emotional Well-Being in Latest Blog...

We continue to see a growing interest in herbal approaches that support mental and emotional health. Many people are looking for ways to help maintain emotional balance, support clear thinking, and improve the quality of their sleep. Herbs are not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle; however, they can support the body’s ability to maintain equilibrium, particularly during periods of mental fatigue or emotional strain.

Our interview with a former student of David Winston RH(AHG) is a little different this time. This one is about an entire family of healthcare providers who incorporate their David Winston's Center for Herbal Studies training into their practices.
