RCSA Spring Bulletin
March - May
Wow - we have officially wrapped up the 2018 - 2019 school year. What a year it has been! We want to send out so much thanks to all of our parents, students, teachers, staff, volunteers, and more. We greatly appreciate all of the support that you give us throughout the school year. We couldn't do it without you! Check the news below to take a quick look at everything that we accomplished in the last few months.
Staying at the Top in Science Olympiad
Our Middle-High Science Olympiad Team has gone back to compete at Nationals! This time the competition was in Ithaca, New York, at Cornell University. The team of rockets took home 2nd place in the entire state of Florida and went on to be 1 of 60 teams competing at the national level this past weekend. This is the second year in a row that they have made it to nationals!
Our Elementary schools rocked it at the State Science Olympiad competition in Gainesville, FL. RCSA Mandarin, RCSA Innovation, and RCSA Elementary all competed. Across the board our schools received two 1 st place medals, five 2 nd place medals, six 3 rd place medals, and four 4 th place medals. Way to go Rockets!
SeaPerch Competition
RCSA Mandarin students competed in SeaPerch competitions throughout the school year and made it all the way to Nationals! This past weekend the team traveled to the University of Maryland to compete against many other teams. They completed challenge where they had to operate their remote-controlled underwater vehicle. The team improved their submarine speed, maneuver, and completed all the challenges. We are so proud!
Celebrating with Mom and Dad
All of our elementary campuses hosted a Muffins with Moms event to celebrate all the amazing RCSA mothers and maternal figures in our students lives! Thank you moms!
Donuts for Dads was also hosted at all of our elementary campuses to celebrate the amazing work done by all of our fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and more! Thank you dads!
Field Day Fun
RCSA Elementary, RCSA Mandarin, and RCSA Innovation all had some fun towards the end of the school year with Field Day! Students competed with their classes and had a blast!
Lego Competitions
RCSA Elementary and RCSA Innovation hosted Lego Competitions to allow RCSA students and other Jacksonville community students to show off the lego skills that they've learned throughout the year! Students had to built a project that fit the theme and submit it to the judges. Students learned a lot AND had loads of fun!
Celebrating Diversity
RCSA Innovation hosted a Cultural Fair during school one day. Students got to explore many different customs. RCSA Mandarin hosted International Night where they saw performances from many different countries. RCSA Middle-High hosted their Annual International Festival in the gym. The gym was packed with great food, costumes, and presentations!
STEM Day at the Capitol
Students from RCSA Elementary, RCSA Middle-High, and RCSA Innovation all travelled together to our State Capitol in Tallahassee, FL. It was an incredible experience! Students visited with many of our local elected officials while they were there for session. They even got to visit the Senate Chamber room and take a look at what it looks like to pass bills.
Road Trippin'
With the end of the school year comes some exciting travel! RCSA Mandarin students celebrated the end of the year with a trip to Epcot! Safety Patrols at RCSA Elementary got to go to Universal Studios. Students at RCSA Innovation visited Busch Gardens and Legoland. RCSA Middle-High Seniors went all the way to Miami for their End of the Year Trip! Some high-schoolers also took an IV League College Trip up North. We've racked in quite the miles!
Competing at LegoLand
Students with RCSA Mandarin travelled to LegoLand to compete in the Jr. First Lego League Competition and saw some great results!
Spelling Champs
Elementary students at both RCSA Mandarin and RCSA Elementary had fun showing off their vocabulary skills during a vocabulary parade!
Service Learning
RCSA Rockets have been busy making sure they give back to our community.
High Schoolers at RCSA Middle-High traveled to Florida State University and participated in the PeaceJam Southeast Conference in April. Students got to hear from a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate!
RCSA Elementary, RCSA Mandarin, and RCSA Middle-High all held beach clean-ups at Jax Beach.
RCSA Mandarin students collected bags and bags of pop tabs to raise money for The Ronald McDonald House.
School Visits
We welcomed some great visitors to our campuses in the past few months.
Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene visited RCSA Elementary for a tour. She also talked with school leaders about improving education for all Jacksonville students.
School Board Member Lori Hershey visited RCSA Innovation for a tour and great discussion!
Jacksonville Jaguars player, Myles Jack, visited RCSA Elementary to read to students and even brought pizza! He took extra time to visit some classrooms and send some excitement to students after many days of testing.
Jax PAL visits RCSA
Jax PAL is a division of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office that reaches out to local students and allows them to spend time getting to know some of our local police officers. Their basketball team came to RCSA Middle-High to take on our very own basketball players. Students got to watch and everyone had a great time!
Mandarin Celebrates Volunteers and Partners
RCSA Mandarin celebrated their top volunteers and business partners to a luncheon at V Pizza. This was a great event to bring everyone together and send out our appreciation to our community.
Graduations Galore
It was hard to catch a day without any graduations happening during the last week of school at RCSA campuses! RCSA Mandarin held a Kindergarten End of the Year Celebration and an 8th Grade Graduation. RCSA Innovation held Kindergarten, 5th Grade, and 8th Grade graduations for all the students moving on! RCSA Elementary hosted Kindergarten and 5th Grade Graduation. RCSA Middle-High had a great 8th Grade Graduation. Of course the Seniors at RCSA Middle-High celebrated the huge accomplishment of graduating high school with graduation at UNF. They heard from keynote speaker, Daniel Davis, CEO of the Jax Chamber. Congratulations to all of our graduates!

  • Students at RCSA Middle-High celebrated Pi Day (3/14) with fun math games, a pie decorating contest, t-shirt contest, scavenger hunts, and more!
  • RCSA Mandarin held a Spring Picnic. Teachers and administration joined together with students and family for a great time.
  • The elementary school garden is growing! Sunflowers tower over everyones heads. Onions, lettuce, herbs, and more flourish throughout. Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Christian, has done a phenomenal job.
  • Juniors and Seniors at RCSA Middle-High spent a special night on the rooftop of MOSH to celebrate Prom.
  • RCSA Elementary hosted their Science Fair and saw some incredible projects!
  • Seniors at RCSA Middle-High travelled to Universal Studios Grad Bash, a special night for Florida High School Graduates.
  • RCSA Middle-High hosted a Talent Showcase, sponsored by the step team, to showcase the many talents represented among students at the school.
  • RCSA Middle-High was named one of the Top 100 High Schools in the State of Florida.
