March Jelly Drives

Each month in the year of 2023, Feed the Need is partnering with Putnam County churches and organizations on specific item food drives. If your church or organization would like to participate, please call Stacey at 904-477-4356 and we will get you set up! Please see below of few of the churches and the Putnam County School District office that participated in February!

February Ramen Drive!

Pastor Michael Hudson pictured, with just a portion of the ramen noodles they collected! They started early in January and we are so grateful!

The Putnam County School District office organized a jelly drive on their own! Look at all that jelly!! Thank you so much!

San Mateo Presbyterian Church also collected jelly for Feed the Need this month! Wow, way to go! We can't say how much we appreciate the support!

Thank You VyStar and FTN Volunteers!

The VyStar Credit Union volunteer program blessed Feed the Need with 6 volunteers on February 22, 2023. They came to the warehouse, along with Feed the Need volunteers and sorted food boxes and broke them down to distribute to schools to pack in weekend bags. The boxes were FEMA boxes that were distributed to FTN to supply food to local students. A big shout out to Omega Milton, Kevin Brown, Beth Hammock, Michael Rathjen, Faith Ledbetter, Morgan Worley, Diane and Roger Jones, Carlene Emery, Richard Pickis, Randi Revels, and Linda Fazekas.

This was a large task and they got it done!

14,900 Food Insecure Individuals (Rounded)
5,100 children below the age of 18 are food insecure
88% of Households below 200% poverty (SNAP, WIC, CSFP, TEFAP)
66th of 67 counties for overall health. (Meaning we are next to the bottom)
Ranked among the LEAST healthy in Florida.
25% of the entire Putnam County population is in poor to fair health.
24% of the population lives in poverty which is double the national average of 12.3%
35% of children in public schools live in poverty.

20% of children in food insecure homes are NOT eligible for food assistance

Repeat a grade in elementary school
Experience developmental impairments (language/motor skills)
