Keeping In Touch
Spring 2017
A Message from our President:
Happy Spring?! As I look out at the quiet beauty of the new fallen snow, it's hard to think "Spring"... I've noticed it's still light out at Suppertime so I just need to take a few deep breaths, be patient and trust. I'm learning to do the same as Chapter President. Your BOD and Committee Chairs have been hard at work planning fun and exciting events throughout the upcoming months.

I hope you'll take full advantage and participate as often as possible. A big plus of being an AMTA Member is the state chapter, something which makes us unique amongst other professional associations. Your attendance at our social, educational, charitable and/or sports events is a golden opportunity to engage with your professional colleagues. I hope to see you soon and often.

Until what we think Spring should be arrives, please stay safe, healthy and warm.

All the best ~ Lj Stewart

The AMTA-VT. Chapter Board is busy making a few fun things happen this year in 2017!
Along with Meet & Greets to get acquainted with other massage therapists in your area, this year's events for Education and Sports will be dedicated to building the camaraderie that many of us yearn for as therapists.
It's a fact that many massage therapists work alone or in a solitary practice; this can be its own form of stress, as our ability to connect so well with clients may leave us desiring some *connections* with others of our ilk, to talk about the things that come up in our work, things that are unique to our professional world. It's important to have the time and space we need to decompress to ultimately enjoy our profession to the maximum!

I've also been honored to have been selected to join National's new sub-committee, exploring the problems of Human Trafficking and how that intersects with our profession. Being from Vermont, a state that does not have licensing regulations, the committee is excited to have lil' ol' me onboard, to give a specific lens to this problem as it overlaps within our arena. Look for more on this committee and the work we are starting to do in the future.

In the meantime, please consider joining us for our upcoming events (click for more info!)

Membership News!

We've had two wonderful Meet & Greets so far this year. In February we met in Ascutney, VT. It was a snowy night but we had warm company and delicious food. Special thanks to those who traveled from near and far to attend.

In March we had a beautiful sunny day for our event at Shelburne Vineyard. We started off with a presentation of our 2017-2018 budget and a member vote to approve the budget.
The entire Board (and especially our hardworking treasurer, Amy Holibaugh!) was pleased at the thoughtful discussion and questions around the budge t as well as the vote to approve it, as presented.
With the hard work behind us, we enjoyed  a lively afternoon of conversation and snacks- I especially enjoyed talking to new  massage students AND practitioners who've been steadfastly doing this work for 20 years or more!

I'm still planning at least two more events this year - would you like to "host" us in your area? The commitment is easy - I help you find a free venue (it can be a restaurant, your spacious office, or a local library) we invite area bodyworkers, and you act as host that evening with the support of your AMTA-VT Board! We would love to meet in the NE Kingdom, Bennington, Brattleboro, and Rutland areas. Contact me at: [email protected]

I look forward to hearing from you!
