Great News Water World Fans!

Hyland Hills Water World will be opening for the season on Saturday, May 29th kicking off the Memorial Day weekend with summer fun like it has done traditionally for more than four decades.

This year will look a little different due to an initial reduced attendance capacity and pandemic cleaning and operational plans that are necessary. The plans includes pre-visit ticketing for all guests, reduced attendance, health and safety protocols for team members and guests, including social distancing and mask wearing when not in the water or on an attraction, greater food safety procedures, enhanced ride cleaning by a designated clean team and much more to keep everybody safe.

The park was given an official go-ahead from Adams County and the Tri-County Health Department in early April, after submitting a comprehensive operational plan for consideration in March.

People are encouraged to visit the Water World website’s “Know Before You Go” page that offers more park details for guests preparing for a visit and is updated regularly: https://www.waterworldcolorado.com/explore/know-before-you-go-2021/

Goosedog Joins Hyland Hills Family!

Meet Brooks – the newly-hired goosedog at the Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills. Brooks is fully trained in chasing nuisance geese off the golf courses. He learned this skill in North Carolina, from an organization called Flyaway Geese. The company specializes in geese control solutions for golf courses, airports, parks, and other venues where geese gather. He has a human caregiver in Golf Superintendent David Jack, who brings Brooks home with him every night and takes care of his food and veterinary needs. David says the staff is very excited to have Brooks as part of the team and that the pooch really enjoys running the course and exploring every day.
Horticulturists at Water World, Golf Course and Adventure Golf & Raceway Create Color and Beauty!

Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District is fortunate to have a horticulture staff that produces award-winning, beautiful displays for guests to enjoy at many of our parks and enterprise facilities every year.
Notably, Water World’s iconic giant pots and elaborate displays have won awards and praise for decades. This year will be no exception, where under the direction of horticultural veteran John Navant, creativity will have no boundary when the two greenhouse doors are open to reveal what’s been growing in preparation for the park’s opening in May. An impressive palate of tropical greens of all colors of the rainbow and annual bursts will be placed throughout the waterpark. A few familiar topiary animals will reappear this year with a couple of topiary “surprises” that will be revealed later. Navant’s displays can also be seen at parks around the District, the Administration Office and other District facilities.
The Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills and Adventure Golf and Raceway have also earned widespread acclaim. The displays at these two facilities are nurtured by Michael Falsetto whose amazing work can be seen all around the golf course, tee boxes, clubhouse, and at each of the 54 creatively themed miniature golf holes at Adventure Golf & Raceway.

Hats off to these two very talented Hyland Hills staff leaders and their teams of seasonal horticultural workers.
