It’s when we search for any early signs of spring: crocus buds popping through the snow, the surgery scent of boiled maple syrup in the air, St. Patrick’s Day parade formations, the talk of Red Sox Opening Day, and sunshine that lasts a bit longer at the end of each day. Plymouth County

Southeastern Mass

Spring is in the air in Southeastern Mass! On March 9, join Battleship Cove for a Lecture Series on Titanic Tales. On March 15, enjoy Celtic Music with Aoife Clancy & Eddie Dillon at First Unitarian Church New Bedford. On March 16, run a marathon with The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in New Bedford, then enjoy local cuisine at the Taste of Greater Taunton on March 18! Explore Southeastern Massachusetts’ rich history at Free Family Day at Old Colony History Museum in Taunton on March 22. The Attleboro Art Museum Flower Show is on March 20-23, and March 22 is Women in the Military Day at Battleship Cove.

The Berkshires

When the evenings dip below freezing, and the days warm into the forties, the sap will be flowing in the Berkshires! Watch the Mass Pirates vs. Jacksonville Sharks on March 21 and Mass Pirates vs. Quad City Steamwheelers on March 28 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell! The Massachusetts Pirates are a professional indoor football team of the Indoor Football League. Arena football is already known for being an exciting game, but the Pirates aim for much more! Cape Cod

Don your green for St. Patrick's Day fun on Cape Cod, including the annual Cape Cod St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 8! The parade, which kicks off at 11 am on Route 28 in Yarmouth, features dozens of marching bands, bagpipe units, floats, Irish Step Dancers, Clydesdales, antique cars and family friendly entertainment. March means music in Hampshire County! The venerable Back Porch Festival brings over 60 acts to 10 venues for 3 days in Northampton, culminating with a Lucinda Williams show at the Academy of Music. Around the corner at the Iron Horse, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists celebrate their Shake The Sheets 20th Anniversary, while The Drake hosts The Chappell Roan Party in Amherst. At Easthampton’s Marigold, Magnolia Masquerade hosts a karaoke night – come sing your song! In Florence, BOMBYX Center for Arts & Equity hosts Ghost Ensemble for debut of a new composition by composer Sarah Davachi.

Mohawk Trail Region

The 21st Annual Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail will be April 26 & 27. The trail is a tour of eight studios with 28 nationally recognized potters. Easily reached from Boston, Hartford, and the Albany area, the free, self-guided tour winds along the beautiful back roads and scenic historic towns of the Asparagus Valley, a local name for the upper Connecticut River valley of western Massachusetts. The Pottery Trail celebrates the rich agricultural history and cultural vitality of the area, as well as the longstanding connection between pottery and food.
