Essentials Drive Ending Soon
McMichael and Gray, PC's Ashton Reaves places an Essentials Drive 'Donate Here' sign outside her office in early April.
Jim Lindenmayer of Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program, along with volunteers, filled a 20-foot U-Haul truck with 150 boxes of diapers and wipes for the Essentials Drive on April 26.
April 6: HomeAid Atlanta staff receives a donation of hundreds of diapers and wipes from employees of Stanley Martin Homes Atlanta Division.
“HomeAid’s donation of diapers and wipes has been critical for the many moms that we serve. We partner with a school for children experiencing homelessness, and many of the mothers have younger children in diapers. Most live in shelters or hotels and have little access to these resources. Those with income have difficulty covering all their expenses, so any free essential can mean the difference between choosing to buy diapers or see a doctor. Others have no income and often have to leave infants in dirty diapers as long as possible to make them last.” - Crossroads Community Ministries

"It was like Christmas morning! The timing was perfect for this donation. We were out of Pull-Ups and size 6 diapers and had several requests for them. The Essentials Drive donations allowed us to fill those requests. We were very low on wipes as well, so again perfect timing. We will be able to keep serving so many babies because of HomeAid Atlanta!” - Helping Mamas

Spring Outreach
HomeAid Atlanta works to provide dignity and restore hope through our many community engagement programs. These efforts provide the opportunity for metro Atlanta volunteers to help meet the immediate needs of families and individuals experiencing homelessness, and the organizations that assist them. This spring, HomeAid Atlanta’s outreach efforts are in full swing with HomeAid Care Days, HomeAid CareKits, and of course our annual Essentials Drive, which wraps up soon (info above)!
HomeAid Cares for Covenant House
On April 8, volunteers from Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia (MBAG) and Kennesaw State University’s National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter joined a HomeAid Care Day at Covenant House Georgia's crisis shelter. Volunteer efforts and supply donations provided a savings of over $7,600 for Covenant House, which provides housing, programs, and services to youth experiencing homelessness and escaping trafficking.

On April 22, Covenant House Georgia held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Gift of Hope Apartments, a 30-unit building that will soon house youth experiencing homeless. HomeAid Atlanta provided brick, mortar, and paint for this project thanks to our generous partners Meridian Brick, Argos, and Sherwin-Williams.
Teens Pack HomeAid CareKits
On March 30, volunteers from Northview Church’s Teen and Middle School Ministry packed 500 HomeAid CareKits for people experiencing homelessness. CareKits contain hygiene items and more. The CareKits were donated to Zaban Paradies Center, which serves couples and families experiencing homelessness, providing essential services to help them achieve economic stability and well-being.
Care & Construction Around Atlanta
Paran Homes at Sheltering Grace Ministry earlier this month
James MacDowell (top left) leads work at CAPN Clinic
Sheltering Grace Ministry provides shelter and guidance for expectant mothers experiencing homelessness in metro Atlanta. This month, Paran Homes has partnered with HomeAid to update a kitchen at one of Sheltering Grace’s homes. Paran Homes volunteers are remodeling the kitchen, repairing subfloor and installing new flooring, replacing crumbling countertops, fascia repair, and new gutter installation. Work in the kitchen should wrap up this week.

James MacDowell and his son Ryan, along with their company, MacBuilt Homes, are currently making repairs and upgrades at CAPN Clinic (Community Advance Practice Nurses) at Our House near downtown Atlanta. James and his crew are upgrading cabinets to increase storage capacity for medical supplies and making repairs throughout the clinic. CAPN Clinic provides compassionate health care services for medically underserved families and individuals.

We Need You: Become a HomeAid Builder Captain!
Builders, you can become a HomeAid Builder Captain to lead construction of a housing facility. Taking on a build project with HomeAid is the perfect opportunity to give back doing what you do best - build homes! We currently have these opportunities:

Breakthru House, Decatur: Two new homes: one for single women recovering from substance abuse, and one for women and children. This project would add 20 beds for short term/transitional living for up for to nine months as clients complete their recovery.

MUST Ministries, Marietta: As part of a project to consolidate all of MUST’s services onto one campus, HomeAid Atlanta is completing interior spaces within MUST's newly built admin building.

Atlanta Land Trust, Atlanta: HomeAid is considering a new partnership with Atlanta Land Trust. If you are building near East Lake and want to help, we can make a difference together by adding 40 affordable housing units!

Check Out Our Van!
Our van, generously donated to HomeAid Atlanta by Ashton Woods Homes, has been a game changer for our work over the last year. It has allowed us to streamline and expand our projects and outreach initiatives.
Now, thanks to Green Light Graphics, our van is a rolling reminder that we are building a future without homelessness! Green Light Graphics did a wonderful job on the wrap and went above and beyond to get our “HomeAid green” just right!
