Winter is here!
With snow falling nearly every day, it is hard for plows to keep up. Keep in mind that the Township is plowed by the Ottawa County Road Commission. Their main focus will be on state and primary roads. Also, salt is not effective when the temperature is less than 20 degrees F. The Road Commission will sometimes use sand to aid with traction when the weather is too cold for salt.
If your mailbox is damaged by a snow plow, you may contact the Road Commission about a replacement. They will set up an appointment, and you can bring either a picture of your damaged mailbox or the actual damaged mailbox to the appointment. However, mailboxes are only replaced when they are directly damaged by a plow, not when they are damaged by snow being moved by a plow.
Road conditions throughout the state can be found on the MDOT Mi Drive map. The map also links to the traffic cameras throughout the state.
