Reminder for Businesses

It's time to file the Personal Property Statement forms. Everyone doing business in the Township and Village is required to file. For businesses with a true cash value of less than $80,000, the Affidavit to Claim Small Business Tax Exemption should be filed. Not filing may result in paying taxes that could have been exempted.

Industrial facilities must file the EMPP form on time to meet State requirements.

If you have gone out of business, please return the personal property form to let us know.

All forms are now due to the Assessing Department by February 20 (this date has been changed from when the forms were printed). However, February 19 is President's Day, so there is no mail - plan accordingly.

Principal Residence Exemption

Spring is a popular time to list your house for sale. If you are moving to a new home and your previous home is not occupied, is for sale, is not leased and is not used for any business or commercial purpose, you may file for a Conditional Rescission of your Principal Residence Exemption. This allows you to receive the exemption on your current property and your previously exempted property. The Conditional Rescission can be claimed for up to three years while your home is on the market. The Conditional Rescission form must be submitted each year.
