Spring Lake Township and Village of Spring Lake Lowers Fire Protection Rating

Spring Lake Township and the Village of Spring Lake have received the Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of Class 4. The new Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating is an improvement on the current Class 5 and will go into effect on April 1, 2019. The new rating also puts the communities in the top 15 percent statewide with a Class 4 rating or below.
ISO ratings are determined by evaluating a municipality’s water supply, emergency communications (911 system), fire department and community risk reduction program. The ratings are based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the best and 10 representing minimal fire protection.
In order to accomplish the task of lowering the Spring Lake area ISO rating, it involved a great partnership between the Spring Lake Fire Department, Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority and the Department of Public Works for the Township and Village of Spring Lake. The lower rating could result in lower insurance premiums for residents in both Spring Lake Township and Village of Spring Lake.

Senior Resources Regional Planning
Senior Resources of West Michigan is working on its next 3-year area plan. As part of that process, they have a community survey to gain input from older adults on service gaps and community needs. The survey can be found at:

There are also several community forums scheduled. Information on the forum at Four Points is included here. Check the Senior Resources website at for other dates.
