Go Paperless
Spring Lake Township has created a paperless option for its water/sewer utility billing. A postcard has been mailed to residents inviting them to join. To sign up, either fill out and return the postcard, or go to our website and submit the online form. With this option, you will no longer receive a paper billing statement. Instead, you will receive an emailed copy of your bill. You can pay the emailed bill the same way you paid previously - write a check and mail it to us or drop it off; online payment (a convenience fee applies); or automatic payments withdrawn from you checking account (no fee applies).
Construction Update
Construction is complete on the sewer force main project. The overall wastewater treatment system update now moves to the headworks project. Along with updating the headworks of the wastewater treatment plant, pump stations on Adams Street in Grand Haven and Division Street in Spring Lake will be updated. The headworks construction is underway. The pump station projects are in the shop drawing approval/equipment lead time phase.

It is anticipated that these projects will have less impact on the public, and will move at a slower pace than the force main project. Therefore, project updates will be published every 3-4 weeks.
Water, water everywhere...
Prein&Newhof provides engineering services to the Township. Their recent Seeing Farther newsletter shared important facts and myths about our drinking water.

Key points from the article:
  • Michigan has A LOT of water.
  • No one is going to steal it from us and we aren't going to run out of it.
  • The Great Lakes basin contains 20% of the world's fresh water.
  • Water is Michigan's most abundant resource. We should focus on using it well, rather than on stifling our ability to grow.
  • The greatest threat to the Great Lakes is contamination, not using too much water. We need to protect the quality of our water.
