Spring Cleaning
Now that the weather is getting nicer, it's time to clean up after the winter. Spring Lake Township has some resources to help you.

Dumpster Day - Saturday, May 15, 8am to noon. Township and Village residents only.

Burn Day - Saturday, May 15. A permit is required. Leaves may not be burned, only brush. Burning is not allowed within 1400 feet of the Village, the City of Ferrysburg, or the City of Norton Shores.

Medication Disposal - we provide a space for dropping off unwanted medications at Fire Station #1, 106 N Fruitport Road. Drop off is available 8am to 5pm weekdays. Remove your pills from the bottle and put them in a plastic bag. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department will handle the disposal.

Household Hazardous Waste - Ottawa County operates several environmental sustainability centers, where household hazardous waste can be safely disposed of.

Rycenga Park Reservations
The shelters at Rycenga Park may be reserved beginning May 15. Reservations for the shelters are handled through an online reservation system.

Shelters may be reserved in half-day blocks - either 9am to 2:30pm, or 3:30pm to 9pm. If you want the full day, the additional hour (2:30 to 3:30) is included. For Township residents, the rental rate is $45 per half-day block, or $90 for the full day. For nonresidents, the rental rate is $65 per half-day block, or $130 for the full day.

Shelters may be used without a reservation if they are not reserved by anyone else.

Field reservations are handled by Spring Lake Recreation. Contact Gail at 616-846-5502 or email her for assistance.

NOTE: The bathrooms are not heated and will not be open until it's consistently warm. If you have a reservation and the bathrooms are not open you will be contacted.

Waste Hauler Update
The waste hauler contract for 2021-22 has been finalized. The maximum rate that can be charged for your rolling bin is $62 per quarter. This is the same rate for the third year. The rate includes both waste and recycling pick-up. There is an additional charge for yard waste.

We have also had a change in waste haulers. Waste Management is no longer collecting in the Township. Arrowwaste (616-748-1955) is now serving residents in most of the Township. RMS (231-788-5096) continues to collect north of M104 on the east side of the Township, and Republic Services (877-MY-TRASH) continues to collect south of M104 on the east side of the Township and the whole west side. Lake Effect Disposal (616-717-0166) collects throughout the Township. There are no other licensed waste haulers available in the Township.

Note: Waste collection in the Village is not part of the Township's licensing. The Village handles their own program.
