Measuring the Township's Performance

Spring Lake Township prepares several annual reports to let residents know how the Township is performing. The 2016-2017 fiscal year reports have been posted on the website. Fiscal year highlights include building new restrooms at Rycenga Park, building a new, LEED-certified fire station, and purchasing a new fire truck. Moving forward, the Township is developing an asset-management plan for our wastewater collection system and is working on replacing the wastewater force main under the Grand River.

Reminder - Coal Tar Prohibited in Asphalt Sealants

As of January 1, 2017, Spring Lake Township prohibits the use of asphalt sealants which contain coal tar or more than one percent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by weight. The Board's final decision was that the potential harmful effects of using asphalt sealants with coal tar were significant enough that they passed an ordinance prohibiting them.

Commercial asphalt paving and sealing companies have been notified of this ordinance. If you are performing your own asphalt sealing, be sure to purchase a product that does not contain coal tar. If you have any questions, please contact the Township.
