The ice storms have been bringing down power lines. Also, as temperatures warm and the ice thaws on trees, additional outages may occur as tree branches brush power lines while springing up to their original position. This has caused additional outages to areas previously unaffected. If you see a downed power line, assume that it is live and stay at least 25 feet away. Call 911 to report the location.
Consumers Energy has let us know that there are still nearly 50,000 outages in West Michigan. They are estimating that they will have power fully restored by this evening, February 7.
