Spring Leaf collection

The Lake Villa Township Highway department will begin Spring Leaf collections on Monday April 28th.

To ensure efficient and effective pickup, we kindly ask that residents pile leaves only at the street on Township roads and refrain from mixing in sticks, plastics, or any other debris. Please note that there is no set schedule or pick up day, but we are making continual rounds on all Lake Villa Township streets as time and weather allows. It is important to note that leaves must be piled no more than three feet from the pavement and that sticks, dog poop, plastic bottles, and garbage should not be included in the piles. We understand that this is a large undertaking, and we ask for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our community clean and beautiful. Thank you for your cooperation.

LRS Starts May 1st

As we transition from Waste Management who has served Lake Villa Township well for many years to LRS who officially kicks off its waste removal services in the first week of May1st. It's time to embrace a fresh start. In the upcoming week, LRS will be delivering brand-new waste carts for your convenience, ensuring you have everything you need for efficient waste disposal.

Please note, your service day may have changed. Your new service day information will be included on a cart hanger attached to your delivered cart, be sure to review the literature.

Remember, after your final pick-up in April with Waste Management, simply leave their carts at the street, and they'll take care of the rest. It’s a smooth transition that promises to make waste removal easier and more effective for everyone!

Important Tax Facts

Your tax bill is based on last year’s property assessment. The appeal process has already passed, and by law, only factual errors can be corrected—market valuation adjustments cannot be made.

Maximize Your Savings: Check for Exemptions

Exemptions reduce the taxable value of your home, lowering your tax burden. Common exemptions include the General Homestead; Senior Homestead; Senior Assessment Freeze; Home Improvement Exemption and Veterans Exemptions.

To verify your exemptions, check the computation ladder on the bottom right side of your tax bill. If you believe an exemption is missing, contact the Lake Villa Township Assessor’s Office.

Taxes Are Increasing — Here’s Why

Due to inflation, local taxing bodies are allowed to increase spending. Under the Illinois Property Tax Extension and Limitation Law (PTELL), spending may rise this year based on the current inflation rate 3.4%.

While my office expected a 3-4% increase, the reality is higher. On average tax bills are increasing 5%, with schools having the highest spending increases. Depending on the school district the increase could be 10%! Of 28 jurisdictions in Lake Villa Township, 10 are increasing spending by more than 4.5%. Detailed information can be found on the Lake Villa Assessor’s Office website, link below.
