Dear VNMS Community,
After a long winter living through the ongoing health crisis, we are all ready for Spring NOW! As we anticipate the blooming of the 1,900+ bulbs on the Avenue, VNMS invites you to mark your calendars, to volunteer, to stroll the avenue while visiting our many businesses safely, tour signature gardens, take an outdoor photography class, and support our mission. Imagine Spring NOW and it will happen.
Ticket sales and volunteer sign-up will begin next week for:
-
Spring NOW: Spruce up the Streatery, Saturday, March 13th
-
Spring NOW: Community Clean-Up, Saturday, March 20th
-
Spring NOW: Pollinator Planting Along Connecticut Ave
- 3/27 and 3/28 (Sat: Laliguras, Sun: Politics & Prose)
- 4/03 and 4/04 (Sat: Calvert Woodley, Sun: Uptown Market)
- 4/10 and 4/11 (Sat: Rosemary Bistro, Sun: Acacia Food & Wine)
-
Spring NOW: An Azalea Photo Safari, Washington Photo Safari Fundraiser to benefit VNMS (date TBD)
-
Spring NOW: Wine Walk, Sunday, May 16th
-
Spring NOW: Garden Tour, June date TBD
We are so grateful for your support of our businesses and VNMS. While we have lost three businesses, four have opened with two more on the way, Shemalis Market, and Allcare Urgent Care! In December and now again in March, with your help, we have directly supported our businesses from Van Ness Street to Nebraska Avenue with cash grants totaling more than $45,000. With your help, we will continue assisting our businesses as we slowly recover, continue our beautification efforts, and work to bring more diverse small businesses to the corridor.
Please consider a donation to VNMS and stay tuned for the many Spring NOW events that we hope will bring joy and success to our beautiful neighborhood. Stay safe and stay strong!
