Ferry Terminal Construction Updates

Construction of the waiting area at the Bristol Terminal was completed this winter, and it's great to once again have a shaded and dry space for customers.

We experienced an unfortunate delay with the remaining aspects of the ferry terminal construction project. We are currently working with a new contractor to complete the terminal project, which includes the railings and gate replacements in Bristol, and maintenance on the ramp and gallows at the Prudence Island Terminal.

From Officer Tavernier

All Low Speed Vehicles are due for registration in 2025. Please see Officer Tavernier at ferry time to schedule to have your Low Speed Vehicle inspected and registered.

Roanoke

We are closely monitoring both reservations and weather conditions for Memorial Day Weekend. If the forecast looks favorable and we are nearing capacity for reservations, we hope to have the Roanoke in service for the holiday weekend.

If conditions are not good for Memorial Day Weekend, we anticipate Roanoke coming into service mid-June. We are looking forward to a full summer season with Roanoke in service!

We are continuing to fine tune our ticketing system for booking vehicles on Roanoke. If online space appears full, we encourage customers to call as we can sometimes accommodate an additional vehicle or two by booking manually.

Freight, Standby & Other Reminders

Please review our policies below to help us ensure a smooth busy season.

Deliveries and Freight Procedures

Call the office for all deliveries that are not being delivered by UPS, FedEx and USPS.

Call ahead for all large freight items (including appliances, lumber and items over 70 lbs etc.).

PBIT supports the local Bristol restaurants who deliver takeout items to the ferry. Take-out orders must be marked with the customer's name and drivers must board the vessel with crew permission to load take-out food. Take-out orders must be picked up on the island side by the customer. Crew members will not handle take-out orders. Take-out orders that remain on-board the boat will be disposed of.

PBIT is not responsible for the transport of perishable, refrigerated or frozen items. Only perishable, refrigerated or frozen items transported by contracted shippers (UPS, FedEx and USPS) will be transported. Shippers of these items must prepare them with proper cold packs and insulated containers to handle ferry travel. These items must be picked up within 3 days from the Prudence Office or will be disposed of.

Standby Procedures

You must be physically present at the ferry terminal to be placed on standby.

Standby is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Oversize Vehicle Procedures

All oversize and trailer reservations must be booked through a ticket staff member. We are available via email at Admin@PI-Ferry.com or by phone 401-683-0430. Please note that these reservations are only booked Monday - Friday.

Prudence Island Parking lot

Please reserve the center lane of the parking lot on Prudence Island for day parking only. These spaces are necessary for those commuting off island for work, school, appointments etc.
