SPRING 2024

IN THIS ISSUE:

Greetings from Matthew | Video Pose Play | The Teacher's Lounge | In Case You Missed It

Hello, gang!

Cometh Spring! Yes, yes, yes…it’s the earth’s promise that happens every year. There’s nothing more amazing than those beginning sprouts of green that pop out of slender branches, out of the vastness of soil, and hopefully out of both you and me. As these color explosions appear, they seem so small, so fragile, and so vulnerable. And yet, I suspect there may be nothing stronger than when the earth converts sun, dirt, minerals, water, and seed into a fantastic burst of color.

What about us? What’s our Spring energy conversion story? How do we catch the Spring wave that will be happening all around us? We should think of ourselves as the soil for coming growth. That soil needs to be opened and turned toward the air to absorb more water and be warmed by the sun.

Of course, at Mind Body Solutions, we think yoga is a powerful aerator. We work with soil that too many others have discarded as not optimal. Those others are mistaken. The earth spins magic everywhere. Our students come to realize that, just under the surface, their dirt is incredibly fertile. We just help them turn their dirt from inside to out. They come to realize that seeds of yoga sprout in all soils. We don’t just help them believe it in their heads. They start to feel it in their bodies. They do all the growth work.

So I ask again: What’s your Spring growth story? How can you prepare your soil? Expansion is coming all around you, and so is color. Don’t miss it!

And hey, if you are looking for company and inspiration, join our Kiss My Asana yogathon this coming month. It’s a great way to till both your soil and help till the soil for others.

Three cheers for Spring!

Pose Play!

Play with Warrior I Pose - three ways

Thank you, Amanda, for being our pose play warrior!

Watch and practice along as MBS teacher Bethany Hutchinson guides Amanda through variations of Warrior I pose in this brief video. Notice how the pose begins and ends in a balanced and stable position. But look closely and you'll notice how from this grounded base, Amanda expands into the pose, and how at the end, there is sense of accomplishment and a beautiful smile.

This pose is real work though, and it succeeds because her commitment to tilling her own soil and tending to her own garden.

This year, we're taking our lead from the extensive MBS Teaching Technique library and running with it. We'll cover everything from grounding, expansion, breathwork, the importance of story and so much more.

We meet the second Thursday of every month at 12PM Central Time. Sessions are free to attend. See you in the Sandbox!

In Case You Missed It

MBS Student-led short practice

One of the best happenings within our community are the live, monthly, student-led yoga practices. They're short (15 minutes or so), sweet and always amazing. Our most recent practice in March was no exception. We always say that the MBS students are our best teachers. Watching them each lead a practice simply confirms this truth.

Normally, these short practices are just for students. But if you join the yogathon this year, you too, can experience the brilliance of our real teachers in real time. Watch this amazing practice led by Audrey, who hails from France. She captured so many fun nuances of the MBS staff and her teaching was nothing short of masterful.
