A Message from our Program Coordinator:
|
|
Hello Early Learning Professionals!
I continue to be amazed by all of you and the work you do to support young children, keep our community open, and work and manage all of the opportunities thrown out at you. This has been a long, long season of busy. I hope you are doing your best to take care of you and your family. I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to green leaves and blooming flowers. Spring is so refreshing.
Care Connections & Education continues to look for ways to support you and your business. We are excited about the increase of professionals taking advantage of our Around the CKC’s in 221 days promo. This ends in April, so we are encouraging all of you to hop on this train. We have amazing prizes to give away and we want you to clean us out! Many of you may have already reached a few of these levels. Give Michelle a call to find out if you have prizes waiting 541-492-6604.
Lastly, I want to thank you all for your participation in the listening session, provider pickups, statewide webinars, new cohort opportunities, vaccines, surveys, vacancy checks, tax classes, the CKC challenge and so much more. We are certainly in a unique time and I appreciate the efforts you have made to connect with us and with each other. Please let us know if you there are things that we can do for you. We are looking forward to seeing you at Spring Fling on May 15th. Enjoy those kiddos, their laughter is fuel for the soul.
Sincerely,
Heather Freilinger

Preschool Promise Update:
|
|
Written By: CCR&R Facilitator, Charlene Shaw
Preschool Promise is a state funded program available for children living at a maximum of 200% of the poverty level. By incorporating a mixed-delivery approach which recognizes that high quality early learning experiences can take place in a wide variety of settings, Preschool Promise provides opportunities for families to access and choose the preschool setting which best meets their needs. Currently there is availability for enrolling new children to Preschool Promise.
It is my pleasure to work with the Preschool Promise providers in our counties. Even in hard times, the commitment of the Preschool Promise providers in Douglas, Lake and Klamath counties continue to make use of their great strengths and provide successful programs even in hard times.
The students receiving the education of these experts in the Preschool Promise program continue to thrive even through this pandemic. New programs in a state of emergency have more questions than answers, however, these providers persevered and created hybrid programs that meet the needs of the students and their families even in this time of crisis. Several of our programs started the SPARK application and self-assessment process even with the extra workload produced by the pandemic.
We live in wonderful communities that thrive in adversity and band together to overcome obstacles produced by the current health crisis. In the end the providers produced strong and healthy programs that continue to serve our precious children.
I can’t say enough about the wonderful providers we have for the Preschool Promise program, and if you know anyone that might be interested in enrolling into Preschool Promise have them complete the interest form at:

New Network Opportunity Going Well!
|
|
We are excited to have 15 childcare providers who are participating in our new network! Participants of the Quality Improvement Network with a Small Business Management and Infant Toddler focus, include four Childcare Center Directors, two Certified Family, and nine Registered Family Providers.
This is a one-year commitment. Each month, participants attend training for business and quality improvement and receive individualized supports. Providers also have access to an individual savings program, network funding, and program materials with an end goal of creating a sustainable quality childcare business.
At the end of the 12-month period, participants will receive a business certificate through Umpqua Community College, multiplied invest through an individual development account through Neighbor Works, and will be ready to submit a Spark portfolio with infant toddler enhancements through Care Connections & Education. This network is sponsored by The Ford Family Foundation.
Our hope is that we are able to offer more networks like this in years to come!
