Spring 2021
As I wrap up my final month as president of the Women’s Endowment Fund as well as my eighth year on the board, I’d like to thank the many women who supported, uplifted, guided and empowered me. This fund has not only allowed me to serve the community that I love, but has also helped me grow personally and professionally.
In March, the Women's Endowment Fund celebrated uplifting women and girls with nearly 400 guests during its "For Women, Forever" virtual celebration. During the event, keynote speaker Ramona Hood, president & CEO of FedEx Custom Critical, gave a compelling address about the importance of mentors, authenticity and relationships for success. The fund also presented its sixth annual Judith A. Read Tribute Award for Service and Advocacy for Women to Jacqueline A. Silas-Butler, Esq., executive director of Project GRAD Akron.
This year's "Who Is Your SHEro?" campaign exceeded its goal and raised more than $50,000 to aid the fund's grantmaking to programs that support women and girls in Summit County. WEF also sat down with female business owner, Emily Roggenburk, founder & chief designer of her self-titled, Cleveland-based apparel and art boutique for this year's SHEro Spotlight Q&A.
This year, the Women’s Endowment Fund awarded $197,000 in grants to 30 local nonprofit organizations. This latest round of grants brings the fund’s cumulative grantmaking total to more than $1.7 million. Among this year’s funding priorities were health and wellness, safety from violence, and economic empowerment for local women and girls.
The Circle of Empowerment is a special group of donors who support the Women’s Endowment Fund with an annual leadership gift of $1,000 or more. These donations help sustain the fund and increase our grantmaking impact each year. In turn, our Circle of Empowerment donors receive special recognition at our events, first-to-know communications about our fund, an invitation to our annual member gathering and more.
Thank you to the generous donors who contributed to the Women's Endowment Fund from Oct. 1, 2020 - April 30, 2021. Your gifts will uplift and empower women and girls in our community for many years to come.
