Annual Meeting
West Virginia Central Credit Union held its 48 th annual meeting on March 4, 2017. Members in attendance exceeded 190. Members learned how their credit union performed in 2016 as well as to be able to participate in the democratic process of electing members of the Board and Supervisory Committee.

Three members of the credit union were voted into a three year term on the Board of Directors.  The three new board members included Vicki Thorpe, Ken Watts and John Rockhold. Four members were elected to the Supervisory Committee which included Lindsay Cole, Sarah Singer, Mike Burdette and Mike Seese.  It is always important to remember that all members of the Board and the Supervisory Committee serve as volunteers. They donate their time and energy to assure the success of the credit union.  Reports were provided by Chairman Thorpe and Treasurer Watts as well as reports from President / CEO Michael Tucker and Chairmen Mark Greenlees of the Credit Committee and Chairman Rockhold of the Supervisory Committee.

As part of this year's meeting, a motion was made to change the credit union charter from a state charter to a federal charter.  It was explained that the change to a federal charter would be the most advantageous for the credit union going forward. The members in attendance unanimously approved the charter change.  The 48 th annual meeting concluded with door prizes and a dinner provided by the credit union.

A Message from CEO, Mike Tucker.
By joining West Virginia Central Credit Union, you made the smart choice to protect your family's financial future.  West Virginia Central is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by members like you. Because we are not-for-profit and owned by our members, credit unions are tax exempt.

We don't answer to Wall Street investors or worry about generating returns for stockholders . Our only concern is providing high-quality services and products to our members' at the most affordable rates possible. That's why we return any gains to you through lower interest rates on loans and higher rates on savings.

The for-profit banks don't like our member-driven cooperative model. They are afraid of consumer competition from credit unions and of our commitment to helping grow the middle class, unlike their singular goal of padding banking industry profits.
Click here  if you are interested in learning more about the credit union difference.  Now, if we want West Virginia Central to stay strong and protect our families' financial futures, we have to ensure credit unions stay top-of-mind for lawmakers in Washington, D.C., and state legislatures. Elected officials hear from bank lobbyists all the time. To match them, we must all step up and tell Congress and state lawmakers the credit union story, that credit unions are a consumer's safest and best option in financial services, and the strongest advocate for the middle class.

Nothing is more powerful to elected officials than when they hear from their constituents. Your voice, as a credit union member, is more effective than any bank lobbyist!   To that end, you will be receiving periodic updates and opportunities to share your views about credit unions in the months ahead. As always, your privacy is our top concern and you can opt out at any time.

Thank you for being a member of West Virginia Central Credit Union. Take your membership to the next level by helping us fight for the protection of credit unions.

As one of 105 million credit union members across the country, your opinion matters.
