2016 Spring Newsletter
Our Mission
The ADHA's core ideology is focused on leading the transformation of the dental hygiene profession to improve the public's oral and overall health. The ADHA's vision is that dental hygienists are integrated into the health care delivery system as essential primary care providers to expand access to oral health care. The mission of ADHA is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene. We work to:
  • Ensure access to quality oral health care
  • Increase awareness of the cost-effective benefits of prevention
  • Promote the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, practice and research
  • Represent and promote the interests of dental hygienists
Dear NH RDHs,

We have had an exciting start to 2016. Thank you to everyone who has attended our CE events. We are here for you and as such have taken your words from the course evaluations into consideration when determining what courses to offer and where. We hope that you will look at our event schedule and attend as many as you can. We look forward to networking, bringing quality, cost effective and local CE courses to each of you.

Our sponsors make all of these amazing courses possible so I want to take another opportunity to thank them for their continued support. We have new and continued exhibitors and ask that you join us in showing our gratitude for all they do to keep NHDHA running. Without them, we would be unable to provide the services, courses and support we offer to the dental profession in NH and beyond.

As always, we invite you to get involved. We are always looking for new ideas and people to learn from and grow with through this wonderful profession. So many of you have so much to offer and enjoy giving back. If you would like to participate in keeping NH hygienists supported we would love to hear from you. Please contact our office or reach out to me personally at 603-731-1164 or rdh_jaime@yahoo.com and I would be happy to get you connected. We are BETTER TOGETHER, and in the words of ADHA President Jill Rethman, RDH, BA let's all soar, UPWARD.

Kind Regards,
Jaime Murphy, RDH
NHDHA President
CE/Membership Chair

MI Paste™ and MI Paste Plus™ relieve sensitivity and will not irritate dry mouths!
What causes Tooth Sensitivity?
How do MI Paste and MI Paste Plus help with Tooth Sensitivity?
MI Paste and MI Paste Plus are the only products for professional use containing RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP), a special milk-derived protein that releases vital minerals into your mouth (calcium and phosphate; also fluoride in MI Paste Plus).
MI Paste and MI Paste Plus relieve sensitivity by protecting dental nerve endings by forming a buffer against plaque. MI Paste and MI Paste Plus can also help redeposit those lost minerals back into the oral environment. MI Paste and MI Paste Plus are excellent for tooth sensitivity due to cold air, hot and cold drinks, sweet and sour food or drinks. If you would like to schedule a Lunch and Learn to know more about the benefits of MI Paste please contact Mike O'Neal @ 978-886-8895.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month!

C lose to 48,250 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or pharyngeal cancer this year.   The growth of the virus HPV has dramatically changed who should be screened and when. Every adult over the age of 17 should be screened once a year! HPV strains 16 and 18 contribute to the incidence rate of oral cancers, particularly in the posterior part of the mouth (the oropharynx, the tonsils, the base of tongue areas), which is OUR area of expertise.
What other health professional routinely does an oral cancer screening AND spends an hour inspecting the oral cavity? Dental professionals are the KEY to early discovery and resulting better outcomes! OralID  is the first oral screening light that combines proven fluorescence technology with a lack of per-patient disposables in a device that costs half as much as compared to others.  We believe that every clinician deserves proper product training with every purchase. This ensures that the product is implemented properly and efficiently so it's utilized on every patient.
