Cheri Rossetti

We are thrilled to spotlight MissionSAFE this spring.

In late 1996, Sister Anne Carrabino, S.S.S. and Nikki Flionis began to work with families in Mission Hill through a contract with the Boston Housing Authority during the HOPE VI redevelopment. In 2000, together with youth and families who named it, they began MissionSAFE and became a 501 c 3 non-profit. Together they had decided that the greatest need was to work with the wonderful and talented youth who had stalled in school and life because of trauma associated with the chronic stresses of poverty and violence.

Today MissionSAFE works with hundreds of youth annually in Dorchester, Roxbury, lower Roxbury and Mission Hill, reaching many more through community and special events. Their goal is to improve all areas of youth’s lives, including nutrition and fitness, job readiness, academic performance, and self-knowledge as well as college and career experiences, community service, and varieties of horizon-broadening activities, to name a few. Their primary headquarters is in Fields Corner, Dorchester and they have secondary sites in Roxbury and the Longwood area.

This spring, our newsletter features Cheri Rossetti. She is a valued colleague and an amazing person, and we are very fortunate to have her on our team at Cleary Insurance. Cheri began her insurance career in 1980 by typing homeowners policies but soon realized that her true passion lies in commercial insurance.

She married the love of her life, Joe Rossetti, in 1984, and they were together for 39 years until Joe's passing. They both enjoyed traveling and Cheri has visited 12 countries so far, with her favorite destination is Disney World, which she has visited over 50 times and where she was just last week with her adult children. In their later years, Cheri and Joe often drove from Boston to Disney and then to Key West, exploring every part of the East Coast along the way.

Cheri and Joe served on the board of directors of Medford Pop Warner for many years. Joe was the Football director, while Cheri took on the role of Cheer director for a few seasons. During their time there, they met Billy, a Pop Warner player who eventually became a part of Cheri's family at the age of 14. Later on, Joe became a coach for Medford High School Football and Cheri coached Hockey Cheerleading.

Cheri has volunteered at the Boston Bruins Foundation for 17 years and was recently invited to join the team as an employee. She works at Cleary Insurance during the day and now works at the Bruins Foundation a few nights a week as part of the 50/50 game night staff.
