Dear friend,

We are excited to share with you the latest updates from the Wayuu Taya Foundation as we continue our efforts to support vulnerable communities in Venezuela in 2023. Our programs cover several areas, and we are proud to report on the progress we have made in each one.

FOOD

In partnership with ACCESO, Giustra Foundation, and CORE, we were able to provide regular food assistance to 148 communities, 62 schools, and 58 organizations. In 2022 alone, we distributed 660,487 meals, including weekly assistance to over 8,467 students. Since our food program's inception, the Wayuu Taya Foundation has provided food to over 60,000 people.

HEALTH

In 2022, with our partners' help, we provided medical 4,834 tons of medical supplies, which resourced services for 26,028 people. Health materials included 26,400 pounds of dental hygiene supplies Colgate Palmolive - Venezuela provided.

With support from Direct Relief, our medicine and supplies program has benefited 87,426 people so far.

WATER FOR ALL

Through our Water for All Program and thanks to CDP, we are providing free water to schools and remote communities. This year, we have benefited more than 20,000 people thanks to the operation of two new tanker trucks.

AGRICULTURE

Our Agriculture Program is a new initiative that is currently underway and while it is still in its early stages, we have high hopes for its growth. Our focus is on cultivating organic produce such as peppers, tomatoes, lentils, corn, cassava, squash, black beans, guajirero beans, and sweet peppers in Zulia. In addition, we have made it a priority to include women in agroecological farming, with 51% of the total participants being women.

EDUCATION

The #nucleowayuutaya, from "El Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela," continues to transform the lives of hundreds of children in the Guajira Subregion of Venezuela.

We continue to provide transportation from 17 communities to the Tepichi Talashi school, where they receive musical training classes.

Along with El Sistema, we have increased our initiation programs, which now include not only the flute but also Cuatro, Symphonic Choir, and Orchestral Program with cello, double bass, violin, viola, clarinets, and many other instruments.

We also completed the restoration of recreational and playground areas at the Tepichi Talatshi school, with capacity for more than 400 children.

We provided training to 46 teachers from 23 schools on neuroeducation and cutting-edge pedagogical methodologies.

NEW

We are excited to launch the "Rhythm of Creativity Fiore Project" thanks to Frank Giustra and the Stichting Giustra International Foundation. This project aims to create a center of creativity for the Wayuu people. We believe that fostering creativity and providing opportunities for self-expression is crucial for the well-being of individuals and communities alike. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new initiative!

We are reaching more families, schools, communities, and institutions, and all of this is possible thanks to our allies: Acceso, CORE, Giustra Foundation, World Central Kitchen, AidLive, Global Giving, Clean the World Foundation, Direct Relief, Warner Bros Discovery, FedEx, Ivywise, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet, Colgate-Palmolive, d&a, and the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela.

Join us in our mission to continue bringing hope and a brighter future to vulnerable populations in Venezuela. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Thank you!
