Half-Cent Public Safety Sales Tax


On April 5, Lee's Summit voters will have an opportunity to approve a 1/2 percent public safety sales tax dedicated to the operations of the Fire and Police Departments. The revenue could be used for services, equipment, compensation and training.

Public Safety Sales Tax Ballot Language

Shall the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri impose a city sales tax of one-half percent (1/2%) for public safety purposes?


If this question is approved, the City of Lee's Summit would begin collecting a sales tax at the rate of one-half percent (1/2%) and the funds derived from the tax will fund municipal costs related to public safety for the citizens of Lee's Summit.

March 8 Tornado Drill


The National Weather Service has scheduled Missouri’s 2022 statewide tornado drill for Tuesday, March 8 at 10 a.m. In case of severe weather on the day of the drill, it will be moved to Thursday, March 10, at 10 a.m.


This is an opportunity for Missourians to practice their sheltering plans and ensure readiness in case of a severe weather emergency while at home, work or school.

291 North Interchange Request for Proposals


As part of the 291 North Interchange project, property in the northwest quadrant of the interchange, currently occupied by Blue Parkway and a portion of the Missouri Highway Patrol facility, will be available for redevelopment.


The City is seeking proposals for the redevelopment of the property that could contain approximately 23,000 sq. ft. of commercial development space.

MoDOT will begin a major bridge project this March that will replace the U.S. 50 Highway bridges over Chipman Road.

The City of Lee’s Summit has partnered with the Community Blood Center for a community blood drive on March 7 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the City's Maintenance Facility in the BLT Room located at 1971 SE Hamblen Road.

There are many free testing clinics offered throughout Lee's Summit and the Kansas City metro. The Jackson County Health Department is hosting testing clinics in Lee's Summit multiple days per week.

The Jackson County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccines (including boosters) at their vaccine clinics operated daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pfizer, Modera and J&J vaccines are all available. More information.
