PSC celebrates nursing grads with Spring Pinning Ceremony

The PSC Nursing Department celebrated its latest cohort of nursing graduates, with 18 students receiving the BSN degree and 99 receiving the AS in Nursing degree, during the Spring 2026 Pinning Ceremony on April 30. Remarks from Health Sciences Assistant Dean Mitzie Sowell, Ph.D., PSC President Ed Meadows, Ed.D., and PSC District Board of Trustees Chair Gordon Sprague preceded the guest speaker’s address from Baptist Health Care Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Joyce Nichols, APRN.

PSC AFC Chapter hosted the AFC Region I Conference


The PSC Association of Florida Colleges Chapter hosted the AFC Region I Conference on May 1 at the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts on the Pensacola campus. In attendance were Region I members from Gulf Coast State College, Northwest Florida State College, Pensacola State College and Tallahassee College, and an AFC representative from St. Petersburg College.

The PSC AFC Chapter has planned the 2027 Spring Break Cruise out of New Orleans on the Norwegian Breakaway. Dates are March 21–28, and ports of call include Cozumel, Roatan, Harvest Caye and Costa Maya. AFC members, college employees, family and friends are encouraged to book early to take advantage of the best rates available. AFC membership is not required.

Student Spotlight: Daschle Nelson

From the PSC Charter Academy to Havard and the MIT Navy ROTC

Daschle Nelson, graduating with his high school diploma and an A.A. degree, will be attending Harvard University this fall with an MIT Navy ROTC scholarship to participate in Naval training at MIT.
