Spring Format Changes For 2025

In response to the popularity of the daily format introduced last summer, we are pleased to offer a similar structure for this year’s spring season. We will be providing two types of classes:

Daily Classes (March): These sessions are scheduled for three consecutive days within a week (Tue-Wed-Thu) and will cover lessons 1-3 of the First Tee curriculum. Fridays are reserved as a makeup date in the event of cancellations due to weather or other circumstances.

Weekly Classes (April): This traditional format occurs on the same day each week for three consecutive weeks. These sessions will cover lessons 4-6 of the First Tee curriculum.

We recommend selecting at least one class in each category, if your schedule allows. You are welcome to register for multiple classes in each category.

Setting Goals & Making Smart Decisions

Why Set Goals? Setting goals is like having a roadmap for your journey. Whether it's improving your swing, getting better grades, or learning a new skill, goals help us stay focused and motivated. Here’s how you can set awesome goals:

  • Be Specific: Instead of saying, "I want to be good at golf," say, "I want to improve my putting skills."
  • Make It Measurable: Decide how you will know when you've achieved your goal. For example, "I want to make 5 out of 10 putts from 6 feet away."
  • Set a Time Limit: Give yourself a deadline. "I want to achieve my putting goal by the end of this month."

Making Smart Decisions: Every day, we make lots of decisions. Some are easy, like what to have for lunch. Others are trickier, like deciding how to spend our free time. Here are some tips for making smart choices:

  • Think Ahead: Ask yourself, "What could happen if I choose this?" Think about the good and not-so-good outcomes.
  • Ask for Help: It's okay to ask friends, family, or coaches for advice. They can help you see things from different angles.
  • Stay Positive: Focus on making decisions that bring good results and make you proud.

Practice Makes Perfect. Remember, it's okay to make mistakes. What’s important is that we learn from them and keep trying. Every time you set a goal and make a smart decision, you're getting better and better.

Distance Response

Golf is a fun game, especially when you learn to hit the ball just the right distance! One important thing to understand is swing length, which is how far back you take your club and how far you follow through. A longer swing makes the ball go farther, while a shorter swing keeps it closer.

Your body’s flexibility and strength can help you swing better. Stretching and playing other sports can make you more flexible and strong. Different clubs also need different swings. Long clubs, like drivers, need bigger swings to hit the ball far, while short clubs, like wedges, need shorter swings to hit the ball just a short distance.

To practice, start with smaller swings and gradually make them bigger. Using sticks or poles to guide your swing can be helpful. Keep your swing smooth and don’t rush. Recording your swing and watching it can show you how to improve.
