Yes, it was a challenging winter season-but almost everyone who showed up for a winter vacation LOVED it! For example, when my son and his family flew in end of December through New Year’s, we had fun doing more activities! On December 31, we skied in the morning, then drove up to Pine Creek, rented cross country skis and had a late lunch at the cookhouse. By the time we turned in our equipment and drove home, we took a hot tub and donned our lounge clothes and watched the incredible fireworks over the mountain!
The family ski trip the last week of March was warm so we skied from 9:30-11:30am, had a lovely lunch on the deck at the top of Aspen Mountain. The next day we skied in the morning, then had a picnic by the Roaring Fork River. Then, we also took a hike, spent several hours shopping (a true activity with the choices here), and had a great Sushi lunch at JING!! Of course, we even made an effort to get to Snowmass for tubing and the roller coaster, but we had too much fun in Aspen!!
WHAT IS MY POINT???? There is a reason we are expensive! Everything in Aspen is finite. The only way we can build more is to buy an old property and tear it down. If it is designated historical, it must remain and be improved. The Aspen Core (downtown) is all deemed historical, with height restrictions which is why the number of buildings remain static, creating a very limited supply and a large demand. Aspen has ALWAYS been expensive –and ALWAYS EXCEPTIONAL.
