Spring Semester Finals Week
Finding God in All Things

May 15, 2025

Dear O'Dowd Students and Families,

Final exam week is just around the corner, beginning Tuesday, May 27. Please review the following information as you prepare. As a reminder, May 19 - 23 is Review Week. During Review Week, most classes will focus on reviewing material. However, students in advanced-level courses, such as 11th or 12th grade classes, may be introduced to new content.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the Academic Support Center and teacher office hours. These valuable resources are here to help students succeed!

Schedule

View the second semester finals schedule. Certain courses do not require a final exam. Students, consult with your teacher if you are unclear about expectations.

Attendance

Final exams and final projects are important components by which teachers identify student mastery of the subject. Students should check their schedules against the finals schedule above and plan to be on time for each exam or project presentation. Please note: some projects may already have been submitted, so students are not required to attend during finals week. Students must take exams at the regularly scheduled time. If a student does not sit for their exams at the scheduled time and has not received prior approval, they may not be eligible to sit for the exam on the make-up day. If a student is sick, please immediately notify attendance and the student’s counselor.

Students do not need to be on campus for flex period or study halls, but the library and annex will be available for students who are present. If a student does not have a 9:00am exam, they may arrive later but must be in the classroom by their 11:30am exam.

Transportation

AC Transit 680 and 682 buses will remain on their regular schedule. This means that morning pick-up will be unaffected. However, finals end between 1:00-1:45pm and the 680 and 682 will pick up at their usual afternoon time of 3:15pm.

For students who want an earlier public transportation option, O'Dowd's BART and Zoo Shuttle will depart at 1:15pm and 2:00pm for San Leandro BART and the Oakland Zoo.

If your student is not a regular BART shuttle rider, they need to submit a signed participation form to Gerald Bennett in the Transportation Office or the Main Office. If you have any questions regarding BART, please contact Gerald Bennett at (510) 577-9100, ext. 193.

Note: there will be no 3:30pm or 6:15pm BART Shuttles during finals week.

Library and Cafeteria Services

During finals week, the library will be open for quiet study Tuesday - Friday from 7:00am - 4:00pm.

The cafeteria will be open Tuesday - Friday and will serve breakfast from 7:30-9:00am and a light lunch from 10:30-11:30am. The Dragon Bar will open at 1:00pm Tuesday - Thursday (closed on Friday).

Students - be sure to study a little bit each day leading up to your exams. Cramming and procrastination lead to higher stress and anxiety during exam season.

Parents and Guardians - please encourage your students to get plenty of rest and to eat a good breakfast each day, especially during the weeks leading up to and during exam week.

Wishing you a relaxing, restorative and productive summer,

Doug Evans, Ed.D. | Principal
