Dear Osprey Families,

While it may not feel very springlike outside, spring Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) are right around the corner. On Thursday, March 9 between 4 and 6pm, we’ll welcome families to campus for these important check-in conversations, facilitated by students and designed to help foster meaningful reflection and conversation about student growth and progress. SLCs occur once a semester and are mandatory in the spring for all 9th and10th grade students and select 11th grade students.

We require professional dress for SLCs, as we believe that presenting oneself in a polished, mature fashion helps to set the tone for a thoughtful and engaged conversation. In addition to daily dress code expectations, professional dress requires that students wear a button-down shirt and tie, shirt with finished neck, sweater or blouse; a nice pair of slacks (no jeans), skirt or dress; dark socks to match trousers and dress shoes (no sneakers, no excessively high heels). Please communicate with an adult at school if procuring professional dress clothes is cost-prohibitive; we will find a way to help.

SLC Format

Spring SLCs for 9th graders will offer students and families a chance to dive into self reflection through a series of guided questions. The goal of the SLC is to support a strong finish to the first year of high school and to encourage 9th graders to reflect on their role in the school as a whole. Students will look at their action plans from their 1st semester Presentations of Learning with their families and decide what is working and what needs modification/refinement in order to reach success.

Sophomores and their families will have authentic conversations about academic habits, growth, challenges and strengths in preparation for Sophomore Inspire Week, which will happen in April.

Juniors who meet the following criteria will not be required to complete SLCs this semester:

  • confirmed LINK Internship with a completed LINK Confirmation & Agreement Form, signed by the student, parent and mentor, submitted via Transeo by Friday March 3
  • in good academic standing (no C- or below in any class) as of Monday, March 6. All student work must be submitted by Friday March 3 to be graded by this deadline.

For those who have a C- or below in any class and/or have not yet confirmed their internship, SLCs will consist of creating an action plan to address academic and/or internship issues with a goal of ensuring the student is on track to finish their junior year strong. Juniors are responsible for communicating with their families about whether or not the SLC is required for them.

Seniors are not required to complete SLCs.

Scheduling and Signing Up

Please sign up using the following link, with just one time slot per student:

If your family is unable to meet on March 9 or you cannot sign up online, please reach out to the appropriate teacher:

As always, our goal with SLCs is for students to take the lead in being responsible and reflective in their high school journey as they consider how they continue to grow, academically, socially and emotionally. We appreciate your ongoing engagement in this process. Please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns.
