A Message From Our CEO Kevin Smith

Luke 24:2-3 “They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.” (NIV)

What do you expect? We live in a cynical world, a world where many live out of scarcity, rather than abundance. It is a dog eat dog world some say. Do we expect things to go wrong, or to break our way? Where and what do we place our hope in?

The disciples of Jesus many years ago, approached Jesus’ tomb expecting to find a lifeless body. All their hope was gone, and going to the tomb and seeing his body would have reinforced their loss and despair. And yet, awaiting for them was a surprise! Death and despair does not have the last word. Resurrection, new life, and rebirth is real and possible!

Are we looking in places that confirm our own cynicism and mistrust that things can get better. Watching too much news can certainly do that. I see hope in the families we serve. They believe that a new life is possible, that despite others that might tell them otherwise, becoming a homeowner is possible. When you get to know these believers in possibility, one cannot help but also believe that rebirth is possible. A new life as a homeowner, but also rebirth of a neighborhood long devoid of investment and care.

Together as partners with God, we are imbuing new life into lives and landscapes.
