2024 Highlights & Accomplishments

During our business meeting at the Annual Conference, we provided an overview of the progress we made in 2024. Much of this work has been strategic in nature, aimed at building long-term financial stability and advancing our mission. Here are a few key accomplishments:

Investment Portfolio Transition: After a thorough review of our financial landscape, we partnered with Ameriprise to manage our investment portfolio. Following the transition in September, we experienced a significant increase in returns—an encouraging sign of future growth.

Legacy of Excellence Award: We proudly launched the Legacy of Excellence Award, honoring professionals who have made impactful contributions to student conduct and to ASCA. In our inaugural year, six individuals were recognized. Each Legacy had donations made in their honor, which will continue to be accepted through May 31, 2025 via this online link.

Honoring Raymond H. Goldstone: To commemorate the legacy of our namesake, we introduced a posthumous Legacy of Excellence Award for Raymond H. Goldstone, which will support the annual cash prize given to the Dissertation of the Year Award winner. We are pleased to share that this initiative has now been fully funded with a $10,000 endowment.

Scholarships: We awarded four scholarships for the Annual Conference and are exploring additional support for participants in the Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification.

Future Scholarship Opportunities: We’re actively developing new funding opportunities, including support for dissertation research and professional development, to further advance the field and support our members.

Growing Donor Participation: We’ve seen an increase in both one-time and recurring donors—especially those contributing $20 monthly ($240 annually). This sustained giving model is vital to our ability to fund scholarships, research, and operational support for ASCA’s flagship programs. If you’d like to support the Foundation, one-time or recurring donations can be set up easily online

Looking Ahead: 2025 Initiatives

As we prepare for the year ahead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to financial stewardship, member engagement, and donor impact. Key initiatives for 2025 include:

DonorPerfect Implementation: In conjunction with the Legacy of Excellence Award, we are transitioning our donor platform to DonorPerfect. This system will streamline donation tracking, enhance communication, and improve the distribution of annual tax letters.

Second Annual Legacy of Excellence Awards: Building on last year’s success, we’ll open nominations this summer. We look forward to celebrating another outstanding group of contributors.

Scholarships: We’ve completed our review and are proud to offer four scholarships for the upcoming Gehring Academy as well as three for the Southeastern Student Conduct Institute (SSCI).

New Donor Levels: We are finalizing new donor recognition tiers and will unveil them at the 20265 Annual Conference in Washington, DC. Stay tuned for communication to confirm your donation records ahead of the launch.

Marketing Enhancements: We’re working to revamp our website to make it more user-friendly and easier to update. We also continue to build our social media presence to keep members informed and engaged year-round.

Member Engagement: In addition to our beloved Trivia Night, we brought back the Silent Auction at the 2025 Annual Conference. We’re now working with the Conference Planning Team, Communities of Practice, and Committees to expand engagement opportunities for the upcoming year in Washington, DC.

Announcing the Richard Justice Endowed Scholarship

We are proud to announce the Richard Justice Endowed Scholarship, made possible through generous contributions from Dr. Patricia Justice and the friends and colleagues of Richard “Dick” Justice.

Dick was a founding member of ASJA (now ASCA) and dedicated nearly 25 years to supporting student learning at the University of Illinois. His commitment to educational and fair conduct processes—particularly through his pioneering mediation work—was instrumental in the creation of the University of Illinois' Office for Student Conflict Resolution.

This $750 annual scholarship will support a participant attending the ASCA Gehring Academy. Our 2025 recipient will be announced soon and we look forward to spotlighting their journey.
