Girls Soccer Meets the World
On April 18th our 10 and 11-year-old girls participated in the SKF Meet the World Soccer Tournament at the Philadelphia Union's training grounds in Chester, PA - an opportunity to play on world-class fields against teams from across the Philadelphia region. Our girls headed into the final game with a championship on the line. In an intense match against a great North Philly United team, full time wasn't enough and we went to penalty kicks. After some well-placed shots and truly amazing saves, the Monarchs emerged victorious. This was a full team effort, with every girl contributing effort, great attitude, resilience, and competitive spirit. The post-game smiles and tears of joy were well earned!
But here's the most exciting part: by winning, the Monarchs have qualified for the prestigious Gothia Cup, a week-long international youth tournament in Gothenburg, Sweden. That's right, this summer we're bringing South Philly to Sweden! We are incredibly grateful to SKF for this extraordinary chance to create a once in a lifetime experience. We often talk about providing access to opportunity through sports. and this is exactly what we mean. We are so proud of our team's hard work, growth, and the way they embrace new possibilities. The story is just getting started!

12U Baseball is Heading to the Windy City!
This Friday, our 12U baseball team departs for Chicago to join teams from Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, and Chicago for a weekend of competition and community, part of the HBCU Baseball Classic. The weekend will include attending an Alabama State vs. Prairie View A&M game at Wrigley Field, a city tour, and the chance to build lasting connections with peers from across the country. This is exactly the kind of opportunity the Monarchs program was built to provide, and would not be possible without so many generous friends and supporters. We wish the team best of luck this weekend!

Monarchs Teens Make their Voices Heard
On March 27th, members of our high school teams participated in a focus group as part of the Play It Safe Philly task force on youth sports and violence prevention. The session was facilitated by Monarchs coaches and program alumni Jakob Cantor and Meech Isaac with support from the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative. Their findings - along with those from other focus groups across the city - will be presented at a Town Hall on April 29th featuring Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Austin Davis.
We are incredibly proud of the following young people who participated in this focus group for sharing their voices and for reminding us of what it looks like to be a leader in the community: Waadi Ullah-Hill, Sebastian Hernandez, Theo Palacio, Aiden Katz, Zakaat McQuay, Tyler Graham, Clarence Price, Jayce Fairfax and Aaron Jean! Our young people are not just participants in this important work to transform the city, they are helping lead it.

Monarchs Celebrate Jackie Robinson Day at the Ballpark
On April 15th, more than 100 Monarchs players, coaches, and family members gathered at Citizens Bank Park for a Phillies game, made possible by the generosity of our friends at the Players Alliance. The timing made it all the more special: it was Jackie Robinson Day, a fitting backdrop for our young players to experience big league baseball in person and for our families to come together across age groups. Moments like these are what community is all about. A big thank you to the Players Alliance for making it happen!
