Dear Friend,
May at Literacy Partners has kicked into high gear! Over $12,000 was raised by our Bike for Books team in support of our students. On May 5, our team rode in the TD 5 Boro Bike Tour and helped students like Gicela, who told us she has
seen a change in her English proficiency and confidence, allowing her to become more involved with her children's education. She is able to speak with their teachers, help with homework, and read to them with books from our
Books of Their Own
program.
Literacy Partners is reaching more students than ever before, in more places than ever before, with new programs and initiatives - thanks to the support of our donors.
Gicela's story reflects the hundreds of families we serve.
With your gift, we are expanding our reach to empower more families through education.
Without you, none of this is possible -
thank you.
If you'd like to learn more or get involved, please
email
me.
Sincerely,

Books of Their Own: A Moment of Connection
Last week, our students in Sunset Park received brand new books for each of their childre
n.
"When I take books home, my sons get so happy to have their own books and read together - it's our moment of connection," Joanna says.
Over this school year, we've distributed close to 5,000 books to over 300 students and 800 children!
When you make a gift, you help hundreds of families experience the joy of reading. Thank you!

Literacy Lifts NYC
Last week, our students attended a rally for adult literacy funding in NYC. Two of our students, Susan and Gicela,
spoke to the crowd to share their stories. Gicela says,
"Literacy is a human right." Thank you to our teachers (including Sandra, pictured with Gicela) for organizing and supporting our students' activist efforts!
