Farm Updates - April 2025

Welcome to our herd of Highlands!

Introducing the newest members of the Lewallen Farms family—our adorable Highland cows! They're already a big hit with their shaggy coats and sweet personalities. Highland cows are one of the oldest registered cattle breeds, dating back to the 6th century in Scotland.

We have two highland bulls, ten cows, and three calves that call the farm home. Despite their intimidating horns, Highland cows are known for their calm and friendly nature. These gentle giants add a touch of rustic charm to the farm, and we can’t wait for you to meet them on your next visit.

Recent Events at the Farm!

Boy Scout Crossover Banquet

We welcomed Cub Scouts from Pack 9161, based in Dallas, GA, who celebrated their annual Blue and Gold Banquet and Crossover. The Blue and Gold banquet honors the founding date of Scouting. The Crossover honors the 5th-grade scouts, who achieved the highest rank in Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Light. Arrow of Light marks the end of the Cub Scout journey, and if chosen, a new adventure in Scouts BSA. Ten scouts were honored with a special ceremony celebrating their accomplishments, where they lit their arrow on fire and crossed the bridge into their new BSA Troop. Congratulations, and good luck on your journey to Eagle Scout!

Bailey & Lacey arrive at the farm!

Bailey and Lacey joined our farm family this spring. These two loveable puppies are set to embark on their training adventure this summer. They will be our newest hunting partners for the Wiley Creek season starting November 1st, 2025.

They are English black labs, and have become best friends over the last few months. We can't wait to see them work this fall!

Wiley Creek will begin accepting large group bookings starting July 1st, and individual bookings will open on August 1st.

Cherokee High School Special Needs Field Trip

In March, we hosted the special needs students of Cherokee High School for a field trip. The day split into a wagon ride to find animals around the farm. The students were filled with excitement each time they spotted a new animal. They also got up close and personal with our farm animals, including pigs, baby goats, chickens, donkeys, and horses. We played yard games and fed carrots to the animals. The smiles on their faces as they interacted with these furry friends were truly priceless. It was a day of unforgettable memories.

Parking Lot Upgrades

We are thrilled to announce that our farm now boasts a stunning new paved parking lot! As you pull in, charming antique tractors line each parking lane, adding a delightful touch of nostalgia to your visit.

This long-awaited paving enhances the beauty of our farm and makes your experience more enjoyable and convenient.

Lewallen Farms is a family-owned farm owned by Larry & Peggy Lewallen. They purchased the first 10-acre tract of the farm in 1990. Today, the farm has 380 acres of beautiful mountain views and is home to horses, donkeys, cattle, and more. Wiley Creek, North Georgia's premier duck hunting, is located within Lewallen Farms.

Lewallen Farms has an event venue that can accommodate up to 200 guests and specializes in weddings. It is also perfectly set up to host up to 25 overnight guests for corporate retreats. There are fire pits galore and 2 game rooms for guest use.
