Wanting to Get Involved and Make a Difference in Your Child's School?
It's Nomination Time!

Volunteering for Briarlake's PTA is a rewarding experience and a chance to get more involved to shape your child's future at the school!  Research shows that family engagement promotes student success.

Worried about the time commitment? Most PTA Board positions have a 2 people serving at a time to help with the division of duties. Most duties can be done at home in your free time.

Did you know? Briarlake PTA funds and supports nearly 15 activities and programs, including 10 Family Engagement Programs, as well as  training for teachers, staff appreciation, & gifted certification funds.

The PTA is looking to fill the following positions in the 2017-18 Academic Year:

Co-President  (2 years) - W ork under and in cooperation with the current co-president and the other members of the Executive  Committee to direct the affairs of the Briarlake PTA. The Co-President  is responsible for  long-term planning and goal-setting, calendaring, budgeting, communicating with administration, signing checks, knowledge sharing and helping point people in the right direction.   It helps if the Co-President has  the ability to communicate effectively and proactively, the ability to keep track of lots of projects simultaneously, and the ability to manage and respond to many emails.

Treasurer (2 years)-  Maintain all PTA financial records and chair the Finance Committee to develop and track the PTA budget.

Vice-President of Programs  (2 years) -  Work in cooperation with the other VP of Programs to organize Briarlake PTA events including Family Service Night, Family Picnic, Storytelling, International Night, and the Ice Cream Social.

Vice-President of Fundraising ( 2 years) -  Work in cooperation with the current VP of Fundraising to oversee and coordinate PTA fundraising efforts.

We are also looking to fill  NEW positions

Assistant Treasurer  -  Assist the Treasurer in organizing reimbursement requests and maintaining financial records.

Co-Secretary (2 years)  Records accurately all business transacted at each meeting of the association and presents the minutes for approval at the next meeting of the same body. Submits online the names and addresses of all incoming officers to state in May each year. Maintains membership list.

Co -Secretary (1 year)  Record accurately all business transacted at each meeting of the  association and present the minutes for approval at the next meet ing of the same body.  Assist with social media and archiving and announcing Briarl ake accomplishments.
In addition, we are also searching for a few Committee Chairperson positions:

      • Membership Co-Chairs - Helps with PTA membership drives at open house and throughout the year.  Most of the membership work is done for this school year so if you are looking for an easy way to transition into helping with PTA, this would be a great position for you! This is a PTA Board position.
      • Open House Co-Chairs - Help organize Open House the first week of August. The co-chairs help decorate the cafeteria, reach out to parents and organizations who want booths at open house, and work with the Principal and the PTA board to determine the flow of the day. There are detailed notes on running Open House from previous years to guide the work of the 2017-2018 Co-Chairs.
