2014 Upcoming Events
Registration is now open for our Eighth Annual PMP Cancer Walk and Dad's Day 5k taking place once again on Father's Day, Sunday June 15, 2014 just outside Philadelphia, PA. Over the past 8 years this fantastic event has raised over $200,000 for PMP/Appendix Cancer research. Come join us, or better yet bring your family and friends and form a team of walkers! If you can't make it in person, why not set up a personal fundraising page and walk in your own neighborhood? Select the Virtual Walker option to create your personalized fundraising page for free!

ThSummer Scurrye Fifth Annual Summer Scurry takes place this year on Saturday, August 9, 2014 just outside Cleveland, OH. This event honors the memory of our founder, Lisa Luciano and includes a 5K Walk/Run, One Mile Kids & Family Fun Run, Lisa's Kids Fest and more. This event has raised over $200,000 for PMP/Appendix Cancer research over the past 5 years.

2014 Grant Opportunities

The PMP Research Foundation will once again be offering two $50,000 2-year research grants for 2014 to be administered by NORD.  

 

The Request for Proposal will be available the first week of June. Abstracts will be due in July, full proposal invitations will be announced in August, full proposals must be received by NORD in October, and the award announcements will be made in December 2014.

Recent Event Results
Congratulations to Dan Ison for running the Boston Marathon in honor of his sister Diane. Diane was diagnosed with Appendix Cancer on April 15, 2013 and continues to fight her battle with grace and courage. On April 21st, 2014 Dan ran the Boston Marathon in honor of Diane and raised over $5,600 (114% of his goal) for PMPRF to help find a cure. Many thanks to Dan for this amazing effort!
News from Grant Recipients 

Grant recipients from PMPRF's Research Grant Program are producing some exciting results, thanks to YOUR SUPPORT!

 

PMPRF 2010 grant cycle recipient Robert Miller and his team at the Mayo Clinic published their research in the Journal of Human Genetics this past March. The study included commentary from Prof Morris and Chua stating the following: "[t]his is a landmark study...[it] verified the potential feasibility of performing genetic profiling of pseudomyxoma peritonei...[t]he authors should be congratulated on being the first group to report a study of genetic molecular profiling of appendiceal tumors."

 

PMPRF 2009 grant cycle recipient Marc Pocard and his team the Lariboisi�re Hospital, Paris Diderot University, Paris France published their study "Orthotopic Animal Model of Pseudomyxoma Peritonei: An in Vivo Model to Test Anti-Angiogenic Drug Effects" in the American Journal of Pathology this past May.
