Spring is here, and with it comes important work to improve roads and essential services throughout Georgina. These investments protect our shoreline, modernize aging infrastructure and support safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

High Street improvements in Sutton

Major streetscape and infrastructure upgrades are planned for High Street in downtown Sutton to support the long-term vitality of the community’s Business Improvement Area (BIA). Phase one of the project includes replacing aging watermains, bridge rehabilitation and reconstructing the road with new sidewalks and curbs.

Construction in 2026 will focus on sections outside the BIA, from Dalton Road to River Street and from West Street to Highway 48. These upgrades will strengthen essential water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure and prepare the area for future streetscape improvements that will enhance the downtown Sutton BIA. Stay updated at georgina.ca/HighStreet.

Duclos Point drainage improvements

To address routine flooding in this low-lying area, the Town is restoring stormwater drainage along Duclos Point Road. Planned work includes rehabilitating existing ditches and culverts, upgrading outfalls and installing new pumping infrastructure to manage heavy storms. Find out how stormwater is managed in Georgina at georgina.ca/stormwater.

Station Road drainage improvements and Old Homestead multi-use path

Improvements along Station Road will include new curbs, sidewalks and stormwater features to improve drainage, enhance safety and reduce ongoing maintenance needs. The project also includes a new multi-use path along Old Homestead Road that will connect neighbourhoods to the Pefferlaw River pedestrian bridge and the regional trail network. Safety features will include speed humps, new signage and a dedicated pedestrian crossing to support safer walking and cycling in the area. Find more information at georgina.ca/StationRoad.

Udora roads rehabilitation

The Town is rehabilitating roads throughout Georgina as part of the annual Pavement Management Program to maintain service levels, extend road life and support safe, reliable travel. In Udora, the first phase of gravel road reconstruction will renew Linda Road, Narva Avenue, Estonian Road and Umera Avenue. This marks the beginning of a long-term effort to improve road conditions in the community. Learn more at georgina.ca/UdoraRoads.
