Spring construction at Barrington High School
We hope you had a wonderful spring break! This spring and summer will be a busy time for construction at Barrington High School, as construction crews work to complete several projects:

  • Construction continues this month on the new front atrium addition, which will be a commons area that serves as a flexible learning space, as well as a place where students can eat lunch, meet in groups or work on individual projects. It is anticipated to be completed after the start of the 2023-24 school year.

  • Construction is underway in the athletic wing of the high school, where there will be a new auxiliary gym, weight room, fitness center, and dance studio. These projects are anticipated to be completed for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

  • Construction is also underway on the lower level of the building, in order to create a dedicated Student Services area which will include counseling, attendance, health services and the deans office. This new area will improve the student experience by making it easier for students to access these services in a central location. These projects are anticipated to be completed for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

  • Students are now utilizing the newly renovated Fields of Dreams, varsity baseball field, and multi-sport field. Crews will put the finishing touches on these spaces this spring, weather permitting.

  • The Board of Education plans to tour various IL high school fine arts facilities this month. The tours are part of the process to create the design work for a potential new fine arts center at BHS. Although the cost to build a new fine arts center was not included in the $147 million referendum, creating the design work was an identified project.
