HAPPY WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH!

With Spring Season upon us, more sunlight is on the horizon along with less sleep and spring breakers! One such group, is the Howard University Golf (HUG) Team, who chose Orange County for their annual spring training. This HBCU golf program made its Division I debut in 2020 and is thriving in part due to our local phenom, Joshua "Eagle" Siplin. To learn more about the HU Golfers, click HERE. Speaking of locals, Orange County Planning Division staff and I met with Tangelo Park residents to discuss a neighborhood beautification project to help prioritize enhancements to their community. Moreover, the Orange County Stormwater Division will meet with Orlo Vista and Westside Manor residents on March 15th to give an update on the flood mitigation project (see meeting flyer below). Many of you will carve out some time, in the coming weeks, to clear out household waste and trim overgrown vegetation. TRANSPORTATION INITIATIVE OPEN HOUSE

Transportation Sales Tax Initiative: Originally announced at the 2019 State of the County by Mayor Demings, the current plan calls for putting the proposed penny sales tax on the November 2022 ballot for Orange County residents to decide, pending a vote by the Board of County Commissioners. The next work session on this matter is March 22nd during the BCC morning session.

ORLO VISTA FLOOD MITIGATION PROJECT

Orange County Stormwater Management Division will host a neighborhood meeting on March, 15, 2022 at 6:30 PM. You can attend in person or via WebEx. The objective of the meeting is to give residents of Orio Vista and Westside Manor neighborhoods an update on the status of the Orio Vista Flood Mitigation Project. Pastor Pritchard, Grace Bible Church of Central Florida, helped kick-off the February Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meeting with a special prayer. The National Association of Counties (NACo) held its annual Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. It is always an honor meeting new people and sharing best practices with other county commissioners.
