THINGS TO DO BEFORE THE
END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!
1) Figure out your Summer Plans!

Power Scholars Academy: a free YMCA summer program . Power Scholars focuses on reading, math, and has field trips each week! PS runs from June 10th to July 19th, 9am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday.
Y-Rangers: another free YMCA summer program that includes outdoor activities and environmental education. Y-Rangers is broken up into three separate weeks, but you can register for each week if you'd like!

2) Get those grades up!

Does your student need some extra help with studying before finals? Homework clinic is offered every Tuesday and Thursday in room 258, as well as everyday in the Afterschool program.

3) Join one of our Parent Groups!
Here at Marina, we believe that parents are student's first and best teachers, and our work wouldn't be complete without your support. Marina offers a number of different Parent Organizations to help families stay involved and feel a part of the Marina community. Click on this LINK to learn more and sign up for a Parent Org. EVENTS
Family Hike
Join us for our Family Hike, happening on Saturday, April 13th from 11am - 1pm . There will be prizes and a presentation about keeping our beaches clean! We will be meeting at the Land's End parking lot (2599 El Camino Del Mar) and hiking part of the Land's End Trail (about 2 miles total). Register Here !!
Game and Pizza Night
Friday, April 19th, will be another chance to attend our monthly GaP (Game and Pizza) Night, held in the cafeteria from 4:30 - 6PM! There will be food, games, and fun! Feel free to bring the whole family.
Celebrate Student & Staff Success!
  • Marina Students win at film festival! PSA Youth Category: First Place and $300 Prize: “Breathe for the Future” by Marina Students: Aya Afenzal, Mattheson Dobay, Mamen Gashaw, Chantal Loong, and Bella Ruan.
  • 7th grade AVID went to City College for a tour and introduction to college access and opportunity!
  • Congrats to Mr. Yee and Ms. Ponce for receiving the Marina Educator Award, voted on by our very own Marina Penguins.

Did you know
Marina Middle offers a wide variety of lunch clubs that students can utilize to meet new friends who share similar interest. Our Japanese Club, facilitated by Mr. Papagni in room 307, has over 33 members that come every Friday to enjoy the language and culture of Japan. We also offer Star Wars Club, Girls Group, SpikeBall Club, Dance, Jam (Music) Club, and many more!

HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION!
The last day for 8th graders to register for high school is April 5th! GO HERE if you have yet to do so.

We will miss all of our 8th grade Penguins and hope that high school is challenging, supportive and empowering!
