NHTI Welcome Message
Spring is Here

I always think of May as a time of renewal, celebrations, and the start of warmer weather. This year we have been thrown for a loop with May snow showers, cancelled plans, and one bad hair day blurring into the next.

However, there are wonderful things to celebrate at NHTI and I am excited to share them with you today.

Thank you for your support, stay safe and healthy, and enjoy the sunshine.

Celebrating Our Students

While implementing the necessary physical distancing requirements to keep all students, faculty, staff and members of the public healthy and safe, major in-person events and celebrations were cancelled and re-born online. The up-side of these changes are that you can take part in them. You have the opportunity to celebrate our students and their success.

Virtual Commencement - We will be uploading our pre-recorded video commencement to Facebook, YouTube and the NHTI website on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 10 am. We will celebrate our graduates success and honor their achievements now and in the future! Congratulations!

Virtual Awards Day - The NHTI Virtual Awards Day 2020 Video will be released on our social media sites on May 20th at 12 pm! We are so excited to be able to congratulate our students on their wonderful achievements.

Capstones Projects - Students spent all semester working on projects to highlight their knowledge of the subject matter. Although not a complete presentation of all work, the NHTI Facebook page has an impressive collection of projects from students studying Electronic Engineering Technology, Environmental Science, LEAN Manufacturing, and Nursing.

Visual Arts Capstone Projects - Leave it to the artists to design their own website to showcase this semesters capstone projects. I am so glad they did, it is AMAZING.

NHTI Athletics
Athletics Hall of Fame
Do you know a former NHTI athlete that deserves to be recognized?

The NHTI Athletics Hall of Fame was founded to honor those individuals who have shown leadership, sportsmanship, commitment and achievement during their time here as an athlete, coach, or supporter of NHTI teams and our rich NHTI athletic tradition.

Nominations are open until June 1st. More information can be found online.

Jennifer Kemp Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is named in memory of Jen Kemp, a graduate of the Sports Management program who worked in the NHTI Athletics/Wellness Center Office. She passed away unexpectedly in 2004.

These scholarships are awarded to qualified students who demonstrate strong academic skills and leadership potential, while also being active in campus life and community service at NHTI.

Every April, a road race is held at NHTI to raise money for this scholarship fund. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we could not hold this important fundraiser.

Please donate today to help honor the memory of a wonderful alumna and support our current student leaders. If you would like to donate by check, please contact me.

Academic Program Spotlight - Sustainable Agriculture
With the renewed call for buying local, sourcing food closer to home, and consumers being more aware of how what they eat is grown and processed, our Sustainable Agriculture Program is having a moment.

This Program focuses on sustainable alternatives to industrialized farming and how to be successful in the marketplace without competing with industrialized and specialized large-scale operations. Students will develop the skills necessary to market their product through farmers markets, roadside stands, and community supported agriculture and restaurants, as part of the local food-to-table movement.

As advocates for the production of healthy, environmentally-friendly food in their community, students will understand the holistic role of the agro-ecosystem and how to balance the economic, environmental and social needs of the farmer and community.

Learn more about our Sustainable Agriculture Certificate and Associate in Science Degree Program here. You can also watch a YouTube video about our Program.

Our programs are training and supporting the sustainable workforce of tomorrow!
