Twice the Pride
On June 4th we are gathering a group to attend Berkshire Pride in Pittsfield. If you would like to be part of our group, let us know you are interested and what shirt size you wear. We'll all be wearing shirts and working our booth to invite people to Sheffield Pride at the end of the month.

Prayers of Thanksgiving
Last week EfM began a five-week study of different forms of prayer beginning with prayers of thanksgiving. After considerable discussion we likened prayers of thanksgiving to the sense of dawn on a far horizon that morning has broken.

Morning has broken
Loving, all-seeing God who springs anew every morning
You fill us with joy each day
We sing a new song of thanksgiving for your creation.
Amen.
Community in Faith Adult Forum
Tuesdays, May 17, 24, 31 7:00 pm via Zoom
Our three-parish Community in Faith Adult Forum continues on Tuesday, May 17th with a lectionary- based Bible Study facilitated by the Rev. Tina Rathbone, Rector of Grace Church. The group meets on Zoom to focus on the ways stories from the Gospel come to life through our own journeys of love, struggle and (sometimes stumbling) faith. Come join us!

The Norman Rockwell Museum
The OWLEs,
Christ Trinity's senior fellowship group, will go to the Norman Rockwell Museum on THURSDAY, May 26, (it's closed on our usual Wednesday) to view the regular paintings, and especially to experience an exhibit called "The Lincoln Memorial Illustrated", featuring works by illustrators and artists who have incorporated the Lincoln Memorial into their art as a symbolic element. This year is the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial on May 30, 1922. In September, we will go to Chesterwood, home of the sculptor Daniel Chester French, to see his 6 foot model for the statue and other works in his studio. Tickets are $18 for seniors, and free for members, NARM reciprocal pass holders, and EBT card holders.

If you wish to attend the May outing, please let co-leaders Nancy King or Liz Wells know. Car pools may be arranged from the church parking lot at 9:15 and Barrington Plaza at 9:30 to arrive at the museum at 10 AM. Afterwards, we can go to lunch at the Barrington Brewery on the way home.

Liz Wells will arrange for us to have a pot luck picnic at French Park in North Egremont as we did last year in June (date to be announced), and midsummer we will try for a Sunday afternoon picnic at a BSO concert at Tanglewood. Everyone's welcome at OWLEs events!
Lich Gate Concerts in the Park
On Saturday, June 11th at 4:00 Christ Trinity Church presents the second concert of our 2022 Lich Gate Concerts series, featuring music for string quartet. Artistic Director and Violinist Jorge Ávila has programmed Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 18, a work so grounded in 18th-century musical tradition that it earned the nickname “Komplimentierungsquartett” or “quartet of bows and curtseys.” Jorge has paired this with William Grant Still’s Lyric String Quartette

Our New York-based string quartet features, in addition to our own Jorge Ávila, Rachel Handman, Violin II; Orlando Wells, Viola; and Sarah Hewitt-Roth, Cello.
Lich Gate Concerts strives to bring live chamber music concerts in beautiful settings in the Southern Berkshires. The 6,000 square foot wooden Pavilion in the Sheffield Town Park has excellent acoustics. And beginning with this concert, we will provide folding chairs under the Pavilion, courtesy of a grant from the Sheffield Cultural Council. Lawn seat ticket holders must bring their own chairs or blankets.

Lich Gate Concerts helps Christ Trinity Church increase our mission-giving by providing wonderful experiences for audiences in the southern Berkshires and raising money for other needed ministries in our community. YOU can help by inviting your neighbors and friends to these concerts!

TICKETS
Pavilion Seating: $40
Lawn Seating: $20
Lawn Seating for children under 18: FREE!
As experienced concert-goers, you are aware that ticket sales cover only part of the expense of presenting concerts. We need your help to support this endeavor to present live Classical music in Sheffield and invite you to become a Sponsor of the concert series. As such, you will receive advance information, priority seating, an introduction to our artists and guest artists, and our everlasting gratitude.

I am the vine
Womens Bible Study will have one more meeting on Friday June 3rd before taking a break for the summer. We will meet in the church hall at 1 pm, and continue the study on 'Who Do You Say That I Am?' from the Gospel of John.

We will explore the statement 'I am the vine' through the question Jesus asked 'Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?' The Bible passages we will read and discuss are John 15:1-17; and Matthew 6:25-34.
Please let Imelda know if you plan on joining us.
Plant Seeds at Gideon's Garden
Gideon’s Garden Planting Day
Saturday, June 4, 10 am
Our sister church, Grace Church in the Southern Berkshires, invites you to help plant Gideon’s Garden. This annual event is full of camaraderie as volunteers plant and water tender young vegetables and fruits to be harvested throughout the growing season and donated to various feeding programs and food pantries, including Lee Food Pantry. If you like to dig in the dirt and want to spend an hour or two furthering the mission of feeding the hungry, bring your trowel and gloves to Gideon’s Garden on Division Street near Taft Farm in Great Barrington at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4.

Hot Dog! Memorial Day!
The Memorial Day parade is a Sheffield tradition. The Mt. Everett High School Band will march down Main Street for the first time in a few years. After the brief memorial service at Barnard Park, come on across the street to Christ Trinity Church and we will serve you a hot dog and something cold to drink. Mt. Everett Marching Band members are served first, then we open it up to everyone in the community.

If you would be willing to help us clean up after this event, we welcome your participation around noontime.
Meals
Christ Trinity began delivering meals to homebound elders two years ago, at the beginning of the pandemic. Now, we are part of a collaborative effort called
Feeding Friends South Berkshire. We work with Berkshire Bounty, The Southern Berkshire Rural Health Network, and Berkshire South delivering 165 prepared meal packages each week to vulnerable neighbors. Some of these delicious and wholesome meals are prepared at The Marketplace, here in Sheffield, and other meals are prepared by our team of cooks at The Guthrie Center in Housatonic.

If you would like to sponsor a meal or help to buy ingredients for their preparation, please click on the button below. Even a small donation will make a big difference. Thank you for helping to feed your community.
Appalachian Trail Ministry
We can't wait to launch our Appalachian Trail Corner of Kindness for 2022. Last year members of our church and Old Parish plus volunteers and clergy from churches statewide, served over 500 hikers at the Appalachian Trail tent. Sign-up opportunities will be available soon. In the meantime, here is how you can help:
