A "New Normal" on the Horizon
It’s been a full year since the pandemic and, wow, have parents been put to the test this year! Many have been parenting without their “village”—no school, no grandparents, and in some cases, entirely on their own! I’d like to congratulate parents for hanging in there, and doing their best for their families.

As warm spring days return and we emerge from our seasonal and pandemic cocoons, we will hopefully be reassessing how we return to society safely. It’s not going to be easy to figure out how to safely return to our pre-COVID lives, but I know we’re all anxious to get going on it. I’ve seen many amazing acts of kindness and generosity during this past year. Please join me in giving patience and grace to ourselves and others as we stumble towards our new “normal”!

Embracing Your Toddler’s Counterwill

Throughout the late toddler and preschool years, children are building their will—the ability to consciously control their actions. They are making more choices for themselves and they can be persistent in making those choices known! Behaviors that sometimes get labeled as disobedience, defiance, or opposition are often rooted in a child’s counterwill. Read more

COVID Adds Layer Of Stress To Postpartum Mental Health

Bringing a new baby into this world is undeniably exciting and beautiful, as well as emotional and life-changing. Now add a global pandemic to the stressors and unknowns of parenting a newborn, and many new parents feel they have been left with a high-stakes, at times frightening, and even lonely task. Read more

Thank You For Making A Night of Hope a Success!
With your support, Parenting Now’s virtual Night of Hope Gala was a great success! On February 26th, we celebrated with a virtual live and silent auction while hearing stories from local families during a night that left us filled with hope. During the evening, we presented our 2021 Minalee Sak's Champion of Children award to a very special honoree, the late Anita Huffman. We were joined virtually by Anita's loving family and Parenting Now staff who were touched by her tribute and memory. A big thank you to our generous longtime supporters, and to everyone who attended the auction, purchased VIP Gala Packages, and made this event possible.

If you could not attend the auction, you can still support strong families. Click the link below to make a gift in lieu of attending:
Updates From The Development Team

We are excited to announce our virtual Preschool Fair on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 9 am – 12 pm! This year, Eugene’s biggest preschool event of the year, hosted by Parenting Now, will be held on Zoom!

Meet virtually with local preschools, learn about their programs, and get to know their teachers. Talk to local preschools about their opening plans, safety precautions, and what to expect for this Fall. Preschools will give their presentations at certain times during the Preschool Fair. It is not required to attend the full 3 hours. Once you register for the event, you will get a schedule of presentations so you can hop in and out of the Preschool Fair as you please. From co-ops to bilingual, find the right program for your child. Click here for more information.
