2024 - April Edition

Spring Into Action with Us!

Spring is in full swing in Montcalm and Ionia Counties. At UWMI we are buzzing with activity, from volunteer opportunities, diaper drives, dining out fundraisers, and so much more. Stay tuned on our social media and website for all the upcoming events & details to get involved. Let's make this season one to remember!

Education on Poverty- Simulation App

Terri Legg, CEO and President of UWMI attended the Coalition of Greater Greenville (COGG) meeting to simulate the tough decisions that many of our neighbors are making every day. United Way's ALICE (Asset, Limited, Income, Constrained Employed) online simulator walks people through decision-making on a tight budget that requires tough decisions to make. Do you get your car fixed to go to work, or pay for a medical prescription that is needed? Do you stay home with your sick child and miss a day of work, or try and find daycare? Many families across Ionia and Montcalm Counties are struggling to make ends meet.

Can you balance money and stress for 30 days?

WOMEN UNITED - Come Connect With Us!

The Women United volunteers have been working with the residents at Greenbriar Estates bringing them a Little Library filled with books. They hosted a Life Literacy event to share science fun with the residents. They created potato battery activity, solar eclipse glasses, and little greenhouses to grow plants. Later this year they will work on a program called Kids and Crocks, which will consist of recipes to make with the children in a crock pot. This will be a cooking experience for the whole family. The ladies are always hard at work gathering items for local groups and helping be the hands to get projects done. Come be a part of this community-driven group!

Women United is dedicated to helping under-resourced women and their families advance out of poverty through initiatives focused on philanthropic action and volunteerism. If you would like to become involved with United Women.
